Her three mates made a despicable decision.
They would use Kiera’s fertility to trade for food.
They turned her into a commodity, forcing her
to bear healthy cubs for other shifters in exchange for supplies.
Some of those shifters were enormous.
Kiera’s body couldn’t handle it.
She was reduced to a broodmare, constantly birthing cubs.
She was no longer divine or beautiful.
She was filthy, and she reeked of sickness and
despair.
I looked at her and spoke calmly. “Kiera, didn’t
you choose this path yourself?”

In both lifetimes, whether she chose Sacred Maiden or She–Shifter, the choice was always hers.
She opened her mouth to say something, but her three mates walked over.
They looked at me with a mixture of fear and defeat.
A strange, twisted smile crossed her face. She turned and whispered something in their ears.
But Kael heard every word.
“Despicable,” he growled. “They’re going to
coat their claws in arrow–poison.”
A coldness settled in my eyes. Thankfully, this
was a primal forest.
For every poison, there is an antidote growing
And thankfully, my Animal Husbandry major had
required a few botany and herbalism classes.
I knew exactly what the antidote for arrow-
poison looked like.
I described the red–backed reed to Roc and
Ash and sent them to find it quickly.
So when the poisoned shifters began to
convulse, gasping for breath, Roc had already
returned with the antidote.
The revived shifters looked at me, their eyes
filled with utter submission.
Kiera and her mates, who had resorted to using poison, became outcasts, despised by the
entire shifter continent.
Kiera’s face was ashen.

Her dream of being the Alpha Queen was
shattered.

Amidst the roars of condemnation from the
crowd, the three males and one female fled in
disgrace.
But I knew Kiera wouldn’t give up. She was like
a viper, lying in wait in the shadows.
To lure the snake from its hole, I shifted into my
human form.
The shifters had only seen a glimpse of me
before. Now, as they took in my full
appearance, they gasped.
Sure enough, near the very same poison bog
from our past life, Kiera lunged out from her
hiding spot.
How stupid could she be, to think the same
trick would work on me twice?

How stupid could she be, to think the same
trick would work on me twice?
I was a She–Shifter now. Her attack was like
watching a film in slow motion.
I dodged her easily.
She lost her balance and tumbled awkwardly
into the bog.
The bog’s waters were corrosive. She struggled desperately, but she only sank faster.
“Save me, sister! I’m sorry, I was wrong!”
I just watched her, my face a cold mask. I had
no intention of saving her.
Across two lifetimes, my debt to her was paid.
I had learned the story of the farmer and the
snake by heart.

Seeing that I wouldn’t move, Kiera started
screaming curses. “Why, Elara? Why?”
“Why is your life better than mine! You stole
everything from me!”
“You’re the one who should be dying!”

I looked down at her, my eyes filled with pity
and scorn.
“I owe you nothing, Kiera.”
“It wasn’t my fault you were switched at birth. It
was our parents‘ mistake.”
“And besides, I was just an adopted child. How
could I have stolen what was never mine to begin with?”
“Everything you ever wanted, I gave to you. In both lives, you made your own choices.”

“If anyone owes a debt here, it’s you who owes
me.”
Kiera’s face twisted in a final, ugly snarl, but
the bog’s poison had already corroded her throat. She couldn’t speak another word.
She could only watch in horror as her own body dissolved into nothing.
As she sank beneath the surface, a cold glint
entered my eyes.
“Come out.”
“Pushing your own female forward to take the blame. How pathetic.”
As my words faded, the white tiger and his companions emerged from the jungle.
The moment they saw me, their eyes burned
with a fanatical heat
<
They quickly composed themselves, shifting
into their handsome human forms and walking
towards me, kneeling piously at my feet.
“Your Majesty, our glorious Alpha Queen. We
only wish to be your males.”
“We were guided by the Primal God to find our
Divine Maiden.”
“You look exactly like the goddess from our
dreams…”
Before they could finish, Kael sent them flying
with a single swipe of his claws.
Roc and Ash stared them down, their eyes like
ice.
When begging failed, the lion and the eagle
revealed their true intentions.
>
But Roc and Ash were no longer a flightless
bird and a helpless kitten.
Even with only one wing, Roc could still soar
into the sky.
Kiera’s proud eagle soon became a plucked
chicken, slammed to the ground with a
sickening crunch, its life extinguished.
The black lion clutched a deep, bleeding wound,
his breathing shallow and ragged.
The white tiger stared at me, then suddenly
pulled a crossbow from his robes.
It was a tool he and Kiera had made, its arrow tipped with a deadly poison.
But against absolute speed and power, such
tricks were useless.
In an instant Kael’s laws clamped around his

In an instant, Kael’s jaws clamped around his
neck, and it was over.
I looked at the three powerful males I had
raised, a proud smile on my face.
Without the white tiger and his lackeys, the Wildplains Tribe was quickly absorbed.
Kiera had treated her people terribly, forcing
them to live against their nature. Their
destruction was inevitable.
The Clearwater Tribe grew and grew, until it
spanned the entire continent.
Kael, Roc, and Ash became legendary warriors,
leading our tribe to victory after victory.
After they had conquered the entire shifter world, the three of them stood before all the shifters and declared me the Alpha Queen.
They prostrated themselves before me, ready
and willing to fight for me for the rest of their
days.
A smile touched my lips. I shifted into my
human form and walked towards the highest throne.
From that day forward, I was the Alpha Queen
of this continent.
