Staring at the bleeding numbers on the financial report, I hunted down the founder behind the rival company. To my disbelief, it was Michael.}
I confronted him, unable to hide the confusion in my voice.
“You’re slashing prices so low you’re bleeding money yourself. What’s the point?”
He smiled calmly as if everything was under control. “Of course, it’s worth it.”
He looked at me, eyes gleaming with amusement.
“You used memories from your past life to gain a head start. Well, my advantage was mastering imitation.“}
I clenched my jaw.
In my previous life, I had been the one behind the surge in the Hernandez family’s market value.
Michael had always leaned on mimicry rather than invention.
I never thought he’d turn that very skill into a weapon against me.”
“Aren’t you afraid of being sued?”
His tone didn’t change.
“Go ahead and sue me.”
There wasn’t a hint of fear in his voice.
“But lawsuits eat up time and money. You’re in a critical development phase, aren’t you? If you really want to waste your momentum, I’ll gladly play along.”
My fists curled at my sides. “What do you want?”
He leaned closer, his voice almost soft.
“Abigail… haven’t you figured it out yet?“>
His smile deepened. “All of this has always been for you.”
I frowned coldly.
Michael spoke with false sincerity, “Abigail, I know you don’t like Emily. I’ve already sent her away. It wasn’t until you left that I realized I made a terrible mistake. The one I truly love… is you.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “You think you deserve to talk about love?”
His affectionate expression wavered.
“You thought I didn’t know? The moment I left, you brought Emily straight into the house. She followed every rule that was originally meant for me, and the two of you slept under the same roof every single night.”
His face darkened, but I didn’t stop.
“She wasn’t even obedient. She argued with your parents, threw tantrums over the rules, and even threatened to call the police. She didn’t know how you liked your tea or what time you preferred to sleep. Even when you were already dozing off, she still pestered you to talk.” I stepped closer.
“But me? I was always careful. Always accommodating. Always understanding, wasn’t I?”
Michael’s brows furrowed.
“Stop assuming the worst in people!“}
I smiled coldly. “Fine then, I’ll come back if you transfer half the company shares to me, abolish ali those outdated family rules, split the housework equally, and let me choose whether or not I want children.”
His face twisted in disbelief. “Abigail, are you insane?“}
I sneered, my voice filled with disdain.
“See? In the end, it was always just business. Why pretend it was ever about love? If you’d really understood love, then in your past life, why didn’t you have the courage to chase it? Why shift the blame onto someone innocent? Why deny every fault that was yours alone?” My gaze burned into his.
“Did I ever stop you from being with Emily? From beginning to end, every decision was yours: you chose to marry me, to have children, to play both sides. You didn’t dare abandon wealth and status, but you didn’t have the spine to defy your family either. So you took everything out on me.”
ש“..ו”
Michael’s hands curled into trembling fists, his voice rough with regret.
“I did all of this just to make you come back. And in the future, I’ll learn how to love.”
“And what if I don’t come back?“}
I met his eyes, sharp and cold.
He didn’t waver.
“Then I’ll wait for you. For as long as it takes,”
I exhaled slowly. I knew then he wasn’t going to stop. Not now. Not ever.
9:19 AM
“This kind of war benefits neither of us.”
“I know. But if destroying my own company wins me one more look from you, then I’ve already won.”
I pinched the bridge of my nose, the weight of exhaustion heavy in my chest.
Then, I made my decision.
“Fine. Let’s sign a bet–on agreement. If I lose, I’ll marry you.”
Michael’s eyes brightened with hope, but my voice turned ice–cold as I added something.
