Chapter 10%
At that moment, someone in the crowd gasped in recognition.
“That’s Mathew–the new president who just took over the McKnight family!“}
“No way… the McKnight family that’s ranked in the top ten on the Forbes list?“}
“Why is this prince showing up here?“>
“Isn’t that the woman standing next to him the one Brandon used to date?“}
“I heard Brandon temporarily changed his bride. Is Mathew here to support her?“}
Meanwhile, Mathew’s phone connected.}
From the other end, Mr. McKnight’s polite voice sounded clearly:}
“Hello, Matthew. Is there a problem?“}
Mathew’s tone was calm but probing:
“Uncle Charlie, do you have a daughter? Is she here in Australia?“}
There was a brief pause before the voice answered firmly:
“Yes, I do have a daughter. Don’t you know Wendy? She and I have always lived in Italy. Why do you ask?“}
The crowd erupted into chaos. With Mathew’s influence, Mr. McKnight’s identity was unquestionable–he was real.} That meant only one thing: Marilyn was lying!
“Oh my god, she’s a fraud! Her parents aren’t presidents of any EastBridge Holdings!“}
“How did she trick the Parrish family? Where did all her money come from?“>
Marilyn’s face drained of color as a group of wealthy ladies stormed the stage.}
“You little witch! Seducing our husbands for money, pretending to be rich, and hiding here?“>
“Let’s beat the shameless liar! Scratch her face so no one will fall for her tricks again!“}
They grabbed her hair and cursed her loudly.
Marilyn looked desperately at Brandon for help. “Brandon, save me!“}
But Brandon stood frozen, stunned, unable to move.
Judith, clutching her chest, seethed with fury:
“So, you’re a big liar after all!“}
“Brandon, this wedding is off–don’t marry her!“}
Marilyn’s biological parents lunged at Judith. Marilyn’s mother yanked at her hair:
“You old hag, don’t bully my daughter! She finally married up–this marriage counts!“}
Judith gasped for air, overwhelmed by anger and shock, and fainted. Bodyguards rushed her to the hospital.
Marilyn, bleeding and battered, crawled to Brandon and clutched his trouser leg.}
“Brandon, please… save me…“}
Suddenly, Brandon snapped out of his daze and kicked her away violently.
“You liar! How dare you deceive me!“}]
“I didn’t…” Marilyn whimpered.“}
“I lied because I loved you too much!” she cried.}
“Brandon, don’t abandon me!“}
She clutched her broken ribs, tears streaming as she begged for mercy.
Just then, police burst into the room.
“Marilyn, you’re under arrest for drug theft and intentional homicide. Come with us.”
They dragged the desperate Marilyn away.”
I had no patience left. Grabbing Mathew’s arm, I said,
“Let’s go get the evidence.”
Brandon hurried after me, grabbing my arm with a desperate look.
“Anna, don’t go with him!”
I shook him off coldly.
“Get out.”
“I hacked all the surveillance footage from the Parrish family Sanatorium. It proves Marilyn stole the drugs–but you caused my brother’s death!”
Brandon’s face went pale.
“What did you say? My brother… is dead? How is that possible?”
