Chapter 43 The Troublesome Woman
“He’s already suspicious of Isabella,” Florence told Chloe, recounting the morning’s events. “But I’m sure she’ll manage to weasel her way back into his good graces this time. Still, if this keeps happening, he’s bound to start having second thoughts. He’s not a complete idiot, after all.
Chloe scoffed, “He might as well be. Isabella can’t hold a candle. to you. The man’s clearly lost his mind.”
Florence felt a warm surge of gratitude for her friend’s fierce loyalty.
“Don’t get so worked up,” she said with a smile. “I’m going to divorce him anyway. Then he and Isabella can have each other all to themselves.”
Seeing that Florence was genuinely unconcerned, Chloe finally believed that she was indeed over Albert.
“Good for you,” she said. “And with your looks and personality, you’ll have no trouble finding someone way better than Albert. What about that Charles guy? He’s single, isn’t he? And I think he’s got a thing for you.”
Florence froze, then quickly shook her head. “Don’t be ridiculous. He couldn’t possibly be interested in me.”

night. If he wasn’t into you, why would he rush to the factory to save you? And why would he be so worried when he thought your were hurt that he just scooped you up in his arms?”
Florence still wasn’t buying it. “He just thought I was injured. and couldn’t stand up. After all, he invested five billion dollars. in Brooks Group. If something happened to me, his investment would go down the drain.”
“Even if he was worried, it was about the money,” she insisted.
Chloe looked unconvinced.
Despite her words, Florence couldn’t help but picture Charles holding her in his arms. His eyes had seemed genuinely filled with concern.
“But it was probably just a normal level of caring, right?” she thought.
After lunch at Chloe’s, Florence headed home.
Two days later, Florence started packing her suitcase, preparing for a short getaway to the Souten Island.
The plan was to fly down with Albert; they’d agreed to meet at the airport.
But as she drove up to the terminal, just as she was about to head inside, a woman suddenly rushed out, pointing at her and screaming, “Homewrecker!”

“You bitch! You’re the one seducing my husband, aren’t you? Well, I’ve finally caught you red–handed! I’m gonna tear you. apart!”
The woman, in her thirties, had a fierce and malicious look, her sleeves rolled up, and teeth bared like a fishwife. Before Florence could react, the woman lunged, aiming for her hair.
Florence had once taken a self–defense class. While she wasn’t sure she could take down a man, she felt confident she could handle this woman.
She dodged the woman’s grasp and swiftly kicked her legs out from under her, sending her sprawling to the ground. A crowd had already gathered, everyone pointing and whispering, some even filming the scene with their phones.
Florence’s face darkened, but she quickly regained her composure, ignoring the woman’s curses as she pinned her down.
In a calm, polite voice, she addressed the onlookers, “Could someone please call the police? I think this woman might be mentally unstable. She’s harassing me for no reason. I need to report this.”
Seeing her composed and confident demeanor, the crowd began
to waver.
“Look at her designer clothes. She’s obviously from a wealthy family. That woman she’s holding down looks like she’s in her forties, wearing cheap clothes, and she’s not exactly a beauty. 3/5

Her husband can’t be much to look at either. This rich girl would have to be crazy to be his mistress.”
“Yeah, makes sense.”
“Maybe that woman’s husband really is cheating, but it can’t be with this girl. She’s gorgeous, she could be a movie star. She probably has tons of rich guys chasing after her. Why would she bother with someone else’s husband and get herself into this mess?”

The bystanders started murmuring, but most of them sided with Florence. Someone quickly called the police.
When the cops arrived, the woman still insisted that Florence was the mistress. Florence challenged her to call her husband over for a confrontation, but she seemed to ignore her and just kept yelling that Florence was a homewrecker. Her blatant nonsense gave the police a real headache.
Just then, Florence’s phone rang. It was Albert.
Before Florence could even say hello, Albert said, “Florence, my flight’s about to take off. I need to head to the hotel to take care of something. You can just catch the next flight.”
Before Florence could respond, she heard Isabella’s voice in the background. “Albert, hurry up, we’re gonna miss our flight!”
Isabella’s voice wasn’t loud over the airport’s background noise, 4/5
