In her previous life, Florence had gone to the hotel on Souten Island when she was eight months pregnant.
Albert had been fully engrossed with Isabella at the time, completely ignoring his duties as a husband. So, Ruby, who was concerned for Florence’s well–being, had suggested the trip to Souten Island to help Florence relax.
But who could have imagined that it was there, at that so–called peaceful retreat, that Isabella would attempt to kill Florence?
In this life, things had changed, perhaps, because of her own actions. And now, her trip to Souten Island was happening much earlier.
Albert, noticing Florence’s silence and downcast eyes, felt a flicker of anxiety.
He tried to soften his tone, whispering, “Elorence, I’ve been too busy with work to spend time with you. Can you give me a chance to make it up to you this time?”
His voice was gentle, his gaze almost drowning in sincerity. But Florence felt nothing. If anything, his words felt hypocritical.
However, an idea sparked in her mind. She decided not to refuse him outright.
“Fine,” she said coolly. “I’ll go to Souten Island.”

Albert was surprised by her casy agreement, and Ruby smiled happily at the prospect.
“In that case, you should leave for the hotel tomorrow,” Ruby exclaimed.
This time, Florence hesitated. “Madam Morris, Albert and I still have an important matter to handle. We’ll go after that.”
“What is it?”
The question came from Albert, whose eyes were fixed on Florence with an intensity that stirred an inexplicable sense of foreboding within him.
Florence looked at him and sneered, “Have you forgotten that Isabella is no longer the company’s chief designer? Tell her to go to the company tomorrow and pack up her things. Jason will be returning to his position next week.”
Albert froze. “Isabella just went home for a few days of vacation. I never said I would remove her as chief designer.”
Florence’s smile turned sharp, edged with sarcasm. “But I did. Do you think my words are meaningless?”
Furrowing his brows, Albert opened his mouth to argue, but Ruby beat him to it, speaking up for Florence, “Since Florence’s already said it, you should demote Isabella immediately. I never thought Isabella was fit for the position anyway. It’s best if you just fire her.”

Albert clenched his jaw. With his grandmother backing Florence, he couldn’t risk outright refusal.

Isabella’s position in the company might really be in jeopardy if he pushed back too hard.
Reluctantly, he nodded at Florence. “I’ll contact her and tell her to go to the company tomorrow morning to pack her things.”
Florence managed a faint smile, yet it didn’t reach her eyes, revealing her lack of enthusiasm for his promise.
After dinner, Albert offered to drive Florence home.
“No, I’ll drive myself.”
Florence declined calmly, her voice leaving no room for argument. As she prepared to leave, she looked at Ruby with a soft smile, “Madam Morris, you take care of yourself.”
Ruby smiled warmly at her, “Don’t worry. I’m waiting for your and Albert to give me a great–grandson.”
The words pierced Florence’s heart like a knife. The mention of a “great–grandson” brought back the memory of the child she lost in her previous life. Her throat was gripped by that cotton–stuffed sensation, each attempt to swallow c amplifying her discomfort.
She struggled to maintain her composure to act as if everything
was normal.

In her past life, Ruby had indeed welcomed her great–grandson, who was delivered by Isabella. Yet, in this life, the child Ruby longed for was also destined never to emerge from Florence’s own womb.
On the drive home, Florence received a call from Chloe.
The moment she answered, she heard Chloe’s terrified voice. “Florence, I’m in the bathroom of the Silver Bar. It seems like someone is watching me. I don’t dare to go out. Please bring the police and rescue me.
Upon hearing this, Florence gripped her phone tightly.
“Wait, I’ll be there soon,” she said.
As soon as she hung up, she dialed the police station. “There’s someone in danger at the Silver Bar. Please send officers immediately.”
Then, she spun her car around and raced toward the Silver Bar.
As she sped along the road, she pushed her car to its limits, her heart racing as fast as the engine. She even wished she could teleport to Chloe’s side in an instant.
In her previous life, Chloe had gone to a bar to drown h sorrows after discovering the man she loved was already taken. She had ended up being followed by two men, knocked unconscious, and taken to an abandoned factory where they tortured her all night. She had barely survived.

The Johnson family had acted swiftly, ensuring the men were sentenced to life imprisonment, but the trauma had left deep scars. Chloe had taken nearly half a year to recover and, after that, had sworn off men entirely, vowing to remain single for the rest of her life.
That incident had left a permanent wound in Florence’s heart because, on the night Chloe had been attacked, she had missed Chloe’s desperate call. Florence had been too wrapped up in her own misery, fighting with Albert, and had smashed her phone in
anger.
Especially poignant was the revelation that came to her just before she died in her former life: Chloe’s ordeal at the Silver Bar had somehow been her fault.
