Chapter 29 She Really Regrets
“It’s unfortunate, really,” Charles said with a calm smile, his handsome face betraying nothing. “One of the two other guests. I invited couldn’t make it due to a flight delay, and the other isn’t feeling well. So, you’re the only one attending the jewelry exhibition today.”
Florence kept silent.
Internally, she was riddled with suspicion.
After all, she had overheard the two staff members earlier talking about how the exhibition was only for a “very important person.”
Still, she didn’t ask any more questions and followed Charles into the exhibition hall.
The instant she entered, her gaze was irresistibly pulled towards. a sapphire necklace. Its design was breathtaking, capturing her attention completely. Each facet of the necklace was crafted with exquisite attention to detail, and the sapphires set into the necklace shone with a captivating brilliance, making it nearly impossible to avert one’s gaze.
“Do you like it?” Charles asked, noticing the awe in her
expression.
Florence nodded. “Actually, I know the designer. He used to be the chief designer at my branch company. But he left for some

reason and has refused to see me since.”

Seeing her regret, Charles offered, “I can arrange a meeting with him.”
Florence looked at him, surprised. “Really?”
Her eyes sparkled, more dazzling than the diamonds worth millions of dollars that surrounded them. Charles‘ heart skipped a beat.
“I’ll call him now. We can even have lunch together,” he said with a warm smile.
Florence nodded with delight. Her smile was radiant and enchanting, reminiscent of the twinkling starlight.
Following Florence’s request, Charles didn’t reveal her identity right away when he called Jason, the elusive designer.
An hour later, Jason walked in. His eyes fell on Florence, who was standing next to Charles, waving at him. His expression darkened immediately, and he turned on his heel to leave.
Florence, despite wearing high heels, sprinted after him, blocking the door with her hand.
“Ms. Brooks, I made myself clear when I left your company. I refuse to work with anyone who’s love–struck… you forget?”
Jason’s face was set in a cold mask as he reiterated the words he had spoken upon his resignation. 2/5

Florence didn’t get angry. Jason had every right to be disappointed in her.

“Jason, I know I let you down, but I’m shamelessly asking you to return as our chief designer with double the salary.”
Jason scoffed, “Do you think Albert would fire Isabella? Florence, you’re a jewelry design major. Your talent surpasses Isabella’s. Didn’t you win first prize in a college design competition? But you chose to be a love–struck fool, giving up your career to be a housewife. How absurd!”
His words were harsh, but they were laced with disappointment.
As an internationally celebrated jewelry designer, Jason also possessed a deep appreciation for talent.
He had always seen great promise in Florence, and her decision to forsake her jewelry design career for the sake of a relationship had left him utterly disheartened.
Florence couldn’t refute Jason because everything he said was
true.

Without offering any justifications for her actions, she simply conveyed to Jason her firm decision.

Indeed, Jason gaped at her, in disbelief upon hearing the news. “What did you just say?”
He thought he must have misheard.
Florence repeated herself. “I’m divorcing Albert.”
Jason stared at her in disbelief. “Are you serious?”
“Yes, you heard right. And I intend to reclaim the company. It was my father’s gift to me for me to learn the ropes. I was fooled by Albert, letting him take the reins. Jason, I truly regret that
decision.”
Seeing the sincerity in her eyes, Jason could tell she was serious.
When Florence noticed the conflict in Jason’s expression, she knew he was beginning to waver.
So she pressed on, trying to sway him. “Jason, remember when I told you my vision was for Brooks Group to stand as an internationally recognized jewelry brand on par with the world’s top luxury names? My ambition hasn’t wavered. I sincerely hope you’ll return to help me achieve this. Will you?”
Jason frowned, remaining silent.
Time ticked by, and Florence grew more anious.
Charles, who had been quiet until now, stepped in. Seeing the sadness in Florence’s eyes broke something in him.

“Jason, I’ve always admired your keen eye for potential. Your chose to join Brooks Group because you believed in Florence’s vision for the brand. Now that she has acknowledged her errors to you, why not give her another chance? Plus, I’ll be there with you this time. Don’t you trust me?”
“You’re joining, loo?”
With surprise, Jason turned to Charles.
