Ruby had always been kind to Florence. There was a genuine warmth in the way she treated Florence.
Despite the ruthless actions Albert and his parents had taken in his past life, Florence found it impossible to channel her resentment toward Ruby.
But now, at this pivotal moment when she was on the verge of reclaiming her company, she couldn’t afford to let her guard down, especially not when facing Ruby.
So, with a steely resolve, Florence declined the invitation, saying coolly, “I have plans tonight. You can head back alone.”
Albert was taken aback. “Don’t you even care about Grandma?” he asked, not expecting Florence to dismiss Ruby, who had always shown Florence love,
Florence’s gaze turned icy. “When did I ever say I don’t care about her? Albert, you’re really good at twisting things around.”
Fearing that Albert might badmouth her in front of Ruby, Florence decided to take the initiative. She picked up the phone and called Ruby herself to offer an explanation.

When Ruby heard Florence’s steady voice on the other end, she couldn’t help but ask, “Florence, I heard you and Albert h fight. You’re considering a divorce? Is that true?”

This was precisely why Ruby had wanted Florence and Albert to visit her. She needed confirmation.
Florence paused for a couple of seconds before replying frankly, “Madam Morris, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’m destined to be Albert’s wife.”
“What happened? Is it because of that female designer? I’ve already told Albert to let her go. You two just got married. Why are you talking about divorce?”
Ruby had always hoped that Florence and Albert would mend their relationship and give her a great–grandchild as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, that wish was not to be fulfilled.
“Madam Morris, it’s impossible for Albert and me to continue our marriage. Please don’t try to persuade us anymore.”
With that, Florence ended the call, leaving no room for further discussion.
Albert, standing near her desk with a sneer, remarked, “Florence, I didn’t expect you to be so heartless.”
“I’m nowhere near as heartless as you are.”
Shooting Albert an icy glance, Florence held her bag tightly. I
once gentle eyes were now devoid of the warmth they had when she loved Albert.

Albert was momentarily stunned as he watched Florence leave
the office.
Her disdainful look had pierced his heart like a sharp thorn, something he couldn’t ignore no matter how hard he tried.
Indeed, Florence had no actual plans for the evening, so she decided to head home. That was until Chloe called.
“Florence, let’s have dinner together tonight to celebrate your divorce from Albert.”
Florence chuckled helplessly, “I haven’t finalized the divorce yel.”
“Then consider it a pre–celebration.”
Florence hesitated for just a moment before agreeing.
Dining alone at home seemed dull, and spending time with a friend was a far better option.
At the restaurant, Chloe had already secured a private room, and Florence ordered a few of her favorite dishes.
Midway through the meal, Florence excused herself to use the restroom.
As she exited the restroom and made her way back to the room, a drunken man stumbled toward her.

Florence’s expression darkened as she forcefully pushed the
man away.
He wasn’t angry; instead, his eyes remained glued to her. “Meeting is fate. How about we dine together, lady?” he said.
Florence had no intention of entertaining this drunkard. She attempted to walk past him, but he blocked her way in the corridor, refusing to move.
“Get out of my way!” Florence demanded and shot him a sharp glare. The man didn’t budge.
Instead, he stepped closer and whispered, “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll make me happy tonight. If not, don’t blame me for being rough.”
He reached out again, aiming to touch Florence’s delicate face.
Florence’s expression turned cold, her eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. Without a moment’s hesitation, she lifted her foot and struck him hard, aiming directly for his crotch.
The man cried out in pain and collapsed on the floor.
He never could have imagined that the stunningly beautiful woman standing before him was, in reality, as sharp and unyielding as a thorn.
“Mr. Short, are you alright?”

From the private room next door, someone heard the man’s agonized screams. The door flew open, and they came rushing
out.
“Get her! I’m going to teach this insolent woman a lesson,” the man, Jack Short, commanded, pointing at Florence.
As a cluster of figures advanced to seize her, Florence’s demeanor shifted to one of glacial coldness. Her eyes, usually so clear and gentle, now glinted with the sharpness and peril of a freshly honed blade.
