Chapter 23 Promise
Charles quickly called his bodyguards, and they arrived shortly to take care of the assassin’s body.
While the bodyguards dealt with the situation, Charles had already ushered Florence into the car, and she didn’t look back.
Once the scene was cleared, Charles turned to her, looking apologetic. “Ms. Brooks, I’m truly sorry about today. You almost lost your life because of me. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”
Florence was surprised. She hadn’t expected him to make such a promise.
It seemed that, after what had happened, Charles had come to trust her much more, which was a good thing for her.
But she simply shook her head. “Mr. Foster, please don’t say that. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even be here talking to you right now. You saved me.”
Charles, moved by her lack of resentment, couldn’t help but feel a sense of warmth in his chest. His gaze softened as he looked at
her.
As the sky darkened, Charles drove Florence home.
Outside, a Ferrari was parked, and its owner was none other than Albert.

The moment Albert saw Charles dropping Florence off, he stepped out of the car. His tone was sharp as he addressed her. “Florence, we’re still married. Are you seriously going out with another man like this?”
When his mother had called earlier, he hadn’t wanted to believe it. He thought maybe Florence was just trying to get a rise out of him by getting close to Charles, just as Isabella had suggested.
But now, he wasn’t so sure. After all, she had kicked him out of the villa.
Florence frowned at him and was about to respond, but before she could, Charles stepped in front of her, blocking Albert’s aggressive gaze.
Charles‘ eyes were cold as he looked at Albert. “I suggest you leave now. Don’t disturb Florence.”
Albert’s face flushed with anger. He didn’t care about Charles‘ status. Without hesitation, he raised his fist and aimed for Charles‘ face. “I’ve had enough of you.”
Florence’s heart skipped a beat. “Mr. Foster, be careful!”
Albert was skilled in Taekwondo and had won competitions, so he was no easy opponent.
But Charles only smiled faintly, a cold glint in his eyes. caught Albert’s punch effortlessly and, with a simple push, sent him stumbling back. Albert crashed hard against the car and

Florence stared in surprise before she burst into laughter.
Given Charles‘ quick reflexes earlier, it was clear he wasn’t someone to be underestimated.

“Are you just going to watch your husband get beaten up?” Albert grumbled when he saw that Florence didn’t even flinch.
Florence glanced at him dismissively. “Just leave.”
Albert, humiliated, lost track of his original purpose. When he saw four bodyguards from Charles‘ team approaching, he realized he had no choice but to swallow his pride and leave.
“How about I leave two bodyguards with you? If he bothers you again, they’ll take care of it.”
Charles looked at Florence kindly, making a sincere offer.
Florence shook her head. “Thank you, Mr. Foster, but I can
handle it.”
Florence had planned to invite Charles for dinner, and he was reluctant to leave. But Tyler’s phone kept ringing, and Charles knew he had to attend an important meeting that required his
presence.
He sighed regretfully. “Ms. Brooks, we’ll see each other the day after tomorrow.”

The jewelry exhibition was coming up, and Florence nodded with a smile.
Back at the villa, Florence dialed the number of Jason, the former chief designer of the company.
As a renowned international jewelry designer, Florence had worked hard to bring him in as the head of the branch.
However, after she handed the branch over to Albert, he had sidelined Jason in favor of Isabella, leading Jason to resign in frustration and start his own design studio.
Now, she wanted Jason to return as the chief designer.
However, when the phone rang, the call was abruptly disconnected.
Florence sighed, hearing the busy tone on the line. It looked like she would have to visit him personally to apologize in a few
days.
The next morning, Florence went to the branch.
When Albert saw her, his face twisted with anger. Thinking back to how he had left the villa the day before, his gaze was icy. “You want to divorce me again? Don’t even think about it. Even if you die, you’ll still be my wife.”
