Isabella quickly shook her head, clearly refusing to admit. anything.
Albert stood there, his face as dark as a storm cloud, but when he saw the tears in Isabella’s eyes, he turned to Florence, his voice cold. “What do you want?”
Florence’s expression hardened. She almost laughed at the absurdity of it.
But just as quickly, her face went icy. “I want her to apologize and put out a statement saying she framed me. And she should stay home for a week to think about it.”
Before Albert could answer, Isabella immediately snapped, “Why should I apologize to you? Why can’t I go to work?”
Florence’s gaze didn’t waver. “Then
didn’t waver. “Then I guess you’ll just have to spend a few days at the police station.”
Isabella instinctively looked at Albert, her voice turning soft, almost pleading. “Albert…”
Albert sighed inwardly, but his eyes softened as he glanced at her. Still, he turned back to Florence. “Alright, I’ll agree to the week off work. But the apology…”

Before he could finish, Charles, who had been standing quietly, sneered and cut in. “Ms. Brooks, I’m curious. How’s the divorce progressing with Mr. Morris? Have you hired a lawyer? I happen to know someone who’s unbeatable when it comes to divorce cases. I can introduce you to him, if you’d like.”
Florence’s eyes sparkled for a second, just as she was about to nod, but Albert’s expression darkened even further. “Isabella, apologize to Florence.”
Isabella’s eyes widened, shocked. She couldn’t believe it.
But when she met Florence’s cold stare and Charles‘ mocking smile, something shifted in her. Her shoulders slumped, and she lowered her head, her voice cracking. “Florence, I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean it. Can you forgive me?”
Florence’s reply was sharp and emotionless. “No.”
Albert scowled, his patience wearing thin. “She apologized, and I’ve agreed to the punishment. What more do you want?”
Florence’s voice was calm, but there was a steely edge to it. “If you sign the divorce papers, I might consider forgiving Isabella.”

Albert’s face twisted in anger.
Florence didn’t flinch. “Then get out of my company. Both of
you.”
At first, Albert hesitated, not wanting to make a scene. But

and with his pride on the line, Albert had no choice but to drag Isabella out.
As they left, Isabella stole a glance back at Florence, an uneasy feeling gnawing at her. She suspected that Florence had more in mind than just making her stay home for a week.
But for now, she had to focus on calming Albert down before she could figure out her next move.
“Mr. Foster, I really appreciate your help today.”
As soon as Albert and Isabella left, Florence’s frosty expression faded, and she gave Charles a bright smile..
Charles watched her, feeling an unexpected twinge of sympathy.
He quickly suppressed the feeling and gave a small smile. “You don’t need to thank me. Even if I hadn’t stepped in, things would’ve worked out the same way for you.”
Florence laughed softly. “I don’t think so.”
Having someone in your corner felt different than
your own.
She changed the topic quickly. “By the way, Mr. Fos need something?”

Charles shrugged casually. “Nothing serious. I was driving by your company around lunchtime, and since I had some free time, I thought I’d stop by for lunch and talk business.”

Florence had actually planned to take him to the western. outskirts later to check out the mountain forest, where the Timberview Project was about to start development. But that would have to wait until after the jewelry exhibition.
In Florence’s last life, the Timberview Project had been a joint venture between Albert and Charles. They’d planned to develop a theme park there, but after Isabella had pushed Albert into a bad overseas investment, the company hit a financial wall.
Albert pulled out of the project, and less than a month later, Charles discovered a rich vein of gems at the same location.
When Albert found out, he was furious with himself. For a while, he even ignored Isabella, spending more time at home with Florence.
But after Isabella contacted him again, saying she was pregnant, he went back to her.
Florence was definitely not going to miss out on this opportunity.
Shaking off the thoughts, Florence asked, “Mr. Foster, do you have time this afternoon?”
Although Charles had a meeting, he nodded. “I’ve g time.”

“Great! I’d love to show you the forest on the western outskirts. That’s where we’re developing the Timberview Project.”

The two of them headed to lunch, but just as they were about to sit down, they ran into Hannah and her friends.
“Florence, what’s going on here? Why are you eating with another man?”
Hannah glared at her, clearly upset. She knew about the divorce between Florence and her son, but she didn’t know Albert had been kicked out of the house. Instead, she assumed Florence was secretly seeing someone else.
Florence raised an eyebrow, looking at her with disbelief. “I’m having lunch with the president of Apex Group. And by the way, your son and I are getting divorced. What gives you the right to lecture me?”
Hannah, embarrassed in front of her friends, forgot all about the advice her husband had given about Florence’s importance to the family. Furious, she raised her hand, clearly about to slap Florence.
