Chapter 2 The Vicious Stepsister And Stepmom
Annabel thought to herself, smirking, ‘A guy like that worth so much? Hardly.”
If he hadn’t saved her, Annabel wouldn’t have offered two million. She sneered at the thought.
She turned to grab her clothes, but they were torn to shreds–useless now.
She glanced around and saw Jonathan had ended his call and was putting on a fresh shirt.
“Hold up, I’ve got something to handle–back soon!” Jonathan said, his voice quick and urgent as he rushed out, barely looking at her.
Annabel took a deep breath, feeling sticky and gross. She went to the bathroom, letting hot water wash away last night’s mess.
When she came out, a stack of women’s clothes was on the couch, next to crystal high heels–fancy brands, tags still on.
She eyed the outfit and shoes, impressed. ‘This hotel’s loaded–how’d I miss this last time?‘ she thought, shaking her head as she put them on.
Outside, the sun burned bright. Annabel breathed deep, feeling the warmth.
She took a cab, checked a spot she needed to see, and got back to the White family. villa near noon.
The White family villa stood tall, gates closed tight. It was her mom’s place, but now Annabel felt like a stranger, ringing the doorbell.
The door opened fast. Yvonne Carter, the maid, muttered, “Oh, you’re back?”
Her tone was flat as she leaned against the frame.
Every maid here was hired by Beatrice White, Lillian’s mom. They never respected Annabel, but treated Lillian like a princess, calling her “Miss White.”
Annabel shoved past Yvonne, swapped her heels for slippers, and marched to the second floor.
Passing the living room, the air felt thick with tension.
Lillian was cooing softly, her voice sweet. “Dad, don’t be mad–I’m sure Annabel didn’t mean it. When she’s back, I’ll talk to her, okay?”
“Didn’t mean it?” Annabel asked, her voice cool, her eyes locking on Lillian with raw hatred. “Or are you going to say you saw me go to a hotel with some guy from college. last night?”
Lillian froze, eyes wide. ‘How does Annabel know what I was about to say?” she wondered. The words hit her hard, leaving her speechless.

Annabel’s lips curled into a faint smirk as she walked into the living room, relaxed but sharp–eyed.
In her last life, around this time, her biased dad, Victor White, had nearly beaten her to death over this setup.
“Annabel, I know you didn’t mean to climb into some guy’s car!” Lillian said, recovering fast, her voice sweet but eyes sly. “Dad, we’ll keep it quiet–make sure the Shaw family. hears nothing!”
She sounded like she was helping Annabel, but it was a push into a deeper trap, sure. to rile Victor up.
Sure enough, Victor’s face darkened, rage exploding. “You little wretch–are you trying to ruin this engagement?”
“The Shaw family wants you–that’s your luck! Even if you’re dead, you’re marrying them!” he yelled, raising his hand to slap her.
Annabel’s mind flashed–last life, she wanted to marry, but Lillian made sure it didn’t happen.
She dodged his slap with a quick step, her eyes cold and steady.
Lillian’s eyes flickered with disappointment, but she added fuel. “Dad, calm down- Mom’s is pregnant. You’re scaring her.”
Victor’s face twisted, his anger spiking as he yelled at Annabel, “Beatrice stayed up all night worrying about you–she hasn’t slept, and she’s carrying a baby!”
Hearing the word pregnant, Annabel’s lips curled into a cold smirk–last life, Beatrice’s pregnancy got her kicked out of school and locked up for months.
“If you saw me, why didn’t you stop it?” Annabel asked, her voice sharp, turning the heat on Lillian. “Or did you want to see me go into a hotel with a guy just to snitch?”
Lillian stumbled, caught off guard–Annabel was usually easy to push around, but tonight she was fierce, flipping the game.
Her mouth opened, but she froze. “That’s because… because…” she stammered, searching for an excuse.
“Because what?” Annabel pressed, her voice relentless.
“Because I got a sudden stomachache last night and called Lillian home!” Beatrice said as she waddled down from the second floor, hand on her pregnant belly.
She stared at Annabel as she went on, “Don’t be mad at Lillian, Annabel–she didn’t mean harm!”
“Right, that’s why I couldn’t stop you!” Lillian said, relieved, rushing to Beatrice’s side, helping her to the couch with a grateful smile.

Victor walked to Beatrice, his eyes softening at her pregnant belly, his anger fading a little.
Beatrice put a gentle hand on his back, patting softly. “Victor, don’t lose it–I’m sure. Annabel didn’t mean any harm. Right, Annabel?”
Victor’s jaw tightened. “Look at Beatrice, pregnant and worrying about you–apologize now! We’ll deal with last night’s mess later!” he snapped, his eyes narrowing, obsessed with his unborn son.
Annabel’s gaze darkened, a faint smile on her lips. “Thanks for the concern, Beatrice. Last night? I didn’t go anywhere–but I saw Lillian sneaking off with some random guy!”
A random guy, and someone from college–there was a difference. That’d sting Lillian bad, and Annabel knew it.
“I didn’t! You’re lying!” Lillian blurted, her face crumpling as she turned to Victor and Beatrice, eyes big and pitiful. “Dad, Mom, I swear, she’s making it up!”
Annabel smirked faintly and headed upstairs, leaving their drama behind.
“Annabel, wait!” Beatrice called, rushing after her, her voice urgent as she climbed the steps, hand on her waist.
Annabel glanced back. Seeing Beatrice close, she stepped away, keeping distance.” Beatrice, you’re pregnant–moving that fast, aren’t you worried you’ll lose the baby?”
“You little brat. How could you say that? That baby is your brother!” Victor roared from below, his face red, fists clenched, ready to charge up.
Annabel’s lips curved. ‘Brother? Victor’s happy to be played, huh? Too bad it’s a stillborn,‘ she thought.
Beatrice saw Annabel pause, a gleam of glee in her eyes as she angled her body to block the view from downstairs.
Annabel’s eyes flicked to the ceiling corner, spotting something there.
When Beatrice reached out, Annabel dodged fast, smooth as a shadow.
Sure enough, Beatrice’s foot seemed to slip. She fell backward with a dramatic flail.
“Ah!” Beatrice screamed, her cry echoing through the villa as she hit the floor, blood. pooling under her, her face pale as she wailed.
“Victor, my stomach–it hurts! Save me, save our son!” Beatrice gasped.
She clutched her belly, her cries aimed to blame Annabel.
The hall exploded into chaos, everyone frozen or running, panic thick in the air.
In her last life, this was how Annabel got set up–everyone claimed she pushed Beatrice down the stairs, causing the miscarriage that ruined her.

Annabel stood cold, watching the fake scene like a bad play, her face blank.
Victor scooped Beatrice up, his hands shaking as he shouted, “Call an ambulance!! Stop staring and move!”
Lillian’s eyes were red, tears streaming. “Mom, you’re bleeding so much–is the baby gone? My brother… is gone?” she sobbed, playing up the moment.
Victor’s face paled at Lillian’s words, his grip on Beatrice tightening, his breath catching
Then she cried, “It was Annabel–I saw her push Mom down the stairs!”
Lillian raised her head, pointing at Annabel, her face twisted with fake grief. “Annabel, how could you be such a monster? Got a problem? Take it up with me–why hurt my mom and the baby?”
Victor, holding Beatrice, glared at Annabel. “You monster–get down here now! What, just going to stand there watching?”
Annabel gripped her phone, walking down the stairs one slow step at a time, her face calm but her eyes sharp and dangerous.
