Chapter 10

That day, Damon was sent back under heavy guard. Kane directly used his connections to have him locked in the Alpha Council’s highest-security prison.

“He won’t see daylight for decades,” Kane had said, his voice cold as winter steel. “The Alpha Council doesn’t take kindly to rogue Alphas who abuse forbidden magic.”

Without his Alpha status, he was nothing now. Just another fallen leader who had lost everything through his own actions.

I watched the transport vehicle disappear into the distance, feeling nothing but relief.

“Good riddance,” I murmured.

Kane’s hand found mine, squeezing gently. “You’ll never have to see him again.”

When night fell, Kane lit up fireworks for me. The sky exploded in brilliant cascades of gold and silver, each burst more spectacular than the last.

He stood beside me on the balcony of our chambers, pulling me close by the waist, speaking softly.

“Aria, I’ve waited too long for this moment.”

His voice was filled with wonder, as if he couldn’t quite believe this was real.

The fireworks painted his face in shifting colors, making him look almost ethereal. I studied his profile, memorizing every detail

“What moment?” I asked, though I thought I knew

“This. Having you here, safe, choosing to stay with me Knowing that you’re truly mine.”

I turned in his arms to face him fully. There were still so many things I wanted to know about this man who had waited for me so patiently.

“When did you first meet me, and when did you start liking me?”

He lowered his head and kissed my forehead, tenderness flowing like water from his eyes.

“A very long time ago.”

“It was when you were doing your internship as a healer at the Alpha Council I was there too, you just didn’t know it.”

I was stunned. “You were there? How did I not notice you?”
