To ensure a successful infiltration, I had my memories sealed, erasing all traces of my true identity to appear as an ordinary person. But now, the spell was shattered.
This was it. The moment of reckoning.”
Sean, a fellow disciple of my master, observed me closely. His guarded expression softened and I saw relief flicker in his eyes. “You remember now.“”
I exhaled slowly. My fingers clenched at my sides as I forced myself to meet his gaze, my resolve solidifying. “I… remember.“”
Across from us, Joseph thrashed against his restraints, the golden coin pressed to his forehead cracking under the pressure of his struggles. His once–arrogant features twisted with fury and desperation. “You dare deceive me? She’s just a sacrifice!”
I took a step forward, my voice devoid of fear. “Oh, yeah?” My lips curled into a slow smirk. “Too bad. I defy fate.“%
Joseph let out a guttural snarl, his expression contorting in rage. “Do you really think you’ve won?” His breath came in ragged gasps, his lips stained with blood. “You have no idea… He’s coming!”
Sean’s expression darkened instantly. His posture tensed and without needing to turn, I knew he could feel it too. A heavy silence fell over the room.
In the distance, the air thickened, suffocating and unnatural. A pulse of ancient energy surged toward us, growing stronger with each second. It carried something cold and twisted, something beyond human comprehension.
Joseph’s lips curled into a bloody grin. His eyes gleamed with eerie anticipation. “The real game starts now.“%
A sudden rupture in the air sent a sharp blast through the room. The very fabric of space seemed to tremble as an unseen force stirred from slumber.
Sean and I exchanged a glance. We understood instantly.”
The sorcerer.
A man who had long since bound himself to the Gray Family’s bloodline. Thirty years ago, he had forged a blood pact with Joseph’s father, an unholy contract that granted them power in exchange for something far more sinister.%
Sean’s palm heated as he channeled energy into the gold coin between his fingers, the metal glowing molten red. His jaw tightened. “Elisa, I’ll hold him off. You find a way to escape.“”
I didn’t move. My gaze remained locked forward. “He’s here for me,” I said firmly, my voice unwavering. “I’m not leaving.”
A wave of black mist surged into the room, swallowing the light. The temperature plummeted by at least twenty degrees, sending a shiver through my spine. Shadows slithered along the walls, curling like living tendrils.
Then, he appeared.
A figure clad in flowing black robes stepped through the darkness, his presence suffocating. A silver mask obscured his face, revealing only a pair of piercing eyes–cold, ancient and filled with something deeper than mere malice.
It was my first time seeing him. And yet, the moment our eyes met, my heart clenched.
Joseph, still bound and weakened, froze. Then, to my astonishment, his expression shifted–not to anger, but to something disturbingly close to relief.”
“You finally came!” he rasped, stumbling forward. His body trembled, barely able to support itself. “Help me! Kill them- now!” His voice cracked with desperation. “They’re going to destroy the pact! You promised me I would live! You said it!”
But the sorcerer didn’t even glance at him.
Instead, his gaze remained on me.
His voice, deep and unhurried, carried a weight that silenced the entire room.”
“I didn’t come to kill you.”!
My breath hitched.”
Sean stiffened beside me, his stance shifting in silent preparation for a fight.”
The sorcerer’s next words, however, shattered everything I thought I knew.”
“I came to take you away. To extend your life. To help you survive this calamity.“”
A chill spread through my veins. My fingers trembled, though I fought to keep them still. “What…?”
“Even if it means defying fate.” His voice was quiet, almost reverent. “Even if it means eternal damnation.“}
Sean inhaled sharply, his composure momentarily slipping. But even his shock was nothing compared to the turmoil unraveling inside me.”
“You…” I whispered, struggling to form the words. “What did you just say? Why would you-“”

“Because you are her,” he said, his voice steady. “You were the woman I loved in your past life.”
A ringing filled my ears.”
“I waited an entire lifetime just for this moment.”

The weight of his words crashed into me like a tidal wave. The intensity of his stare, the way he spoke with unwavering certainty–this wasn’t a lie. This wasn’t a trick.
When I looked into his eyes, I saw pain buried beneath layers of time. An obsession that spanned centuries. A love that refused to fade, even in the face of reincarnation itself.
“You… you’ve known all along?” I asked hoarsely.
“Yes.”
He took a slow step forward, his voice gentle.
“In this life, your fate is too tragic. The calamity will come upon you. So, I used the Gray Family to take his life in order to save yours.”
Instinctively, I turned to Joseph.”
His entire body went rigid. His face drained of color, his pupils contracting violently as realization crashed over him.” “I… I’m just a sacrifice?” he whispered, horror dawning on him.”
The sorcerer regarded him with nothing more than mild amusement. “You are,” he said lightly. “But your will to live was strong enough to twist my spell. Instead of consuming your own lifespan, it devoured the time of others.“”
Joseph’s body trembled. “No… no, that’s not-”
“But no matter how strong your fate,” the sorcerer continued, voice soft yet merciless, “even you cannot break The Unbound.”
