Chapter 6
The playful expression on Lily’s face vanished. “Nora, what did you do to my mother?”
“I apologized, why are you so unforgiving?”
She called home.
Minutes later, she hung up.
Lily’s face was pale. She grabbed Jack’s arm. “Jack, my mom was taken by the police. What
do we do?”

“I never thought Nora would be so vengeful!”
Jack’s face changed, he yelled at me.
“Nora, why did you call the police over such a small matter?”
“Do you know how sick Lily’s mom is? What if something happens to her?”
“Get Lily’s mom released, or I’ll get you!”
My expression hardened. “Small matter? Jack, go see how many tubes are in my mother’s body!”
“I don’t know how sick Lily’s mother is, but my mother can’t move!”
“Want to get me? Fine, I’m waiting.”
Jack stiffened, his face unnatural.

After a long moment, he rubbed his temples, his
voice softer.
“Nora, Lily’s mother did wrong.”
“But we’re all friends, no need to involve the
police.”
“For my sake, get the police to release Lily’s
mother. We’ll talk later.”
“Don’t worry, if you do as I say, I’ll forgive you,
and we’ll start over.”
Jack’s words were unbelievable.
“Forgive me?”
“Jack, it’s not about forgiveness. I’ll have my
lawyer send you the divorce papers. Sign them.”
Lily, sensing my anger, said anxiously:

“Nora, are you still angry about Jack and my
fake marriage?”
“Don’t worry, if you don’t press charges against
my mother, I’ll clear things up with everyone.”
“If you still don’t believe me, I promise that
once my mother is home, I’ll never see Jack
again.”
Lily’s words sounded sincere, but I was tired of
hearing them.
It was her usual tactic.
Every time she said she’d break up with Jack,
he’d protect her more, satisfying her demands.
This time was no exception.
Jack, as if provoked, screamed, “Nora, are you
done yet!?”
く
“Lily and I are just friends. Even if you’re
jealous, there’s a limit!”
“I order you not to press charges against Lily’s
mother, otherwise, I’ll really divorce you!”
I sneered, “I wouldn’t mind.”
I turned to leave.
Jack yelled, “Nora, stop! Do I allow you to
leave?”
Lily tried to grab my arm, “Don’t go! You
haven’t agreed to release my mother!”
I dodged her.
I ignored them and told the nurse they were
causing trouble.
After the security guards removed them, I finally
had peace.
