Chapter 2
Hearing that, Blake slapped my hand away harshly, his expression growing even colder.[]
“Stop pretending. Mia’s the one who needs my help!“]
“The twins are only three years old, and Mia’s pregnant. You even made them kneel and bow to you!“]
“Since you can’t accept them, don’t bother coming home. When you realize your mistake, I’ll come get you!“]
Pain shot through my skull as my breathing grew shallow. I could only watch helplessly as Blake carefully placed Mia and the children in his car.
He treated them like precious treasures while discarding me like trash.[]
I struggled to crawl toward them, but Blake drove away without a backward glance.
By the time the ambulance delivered me to the hospital, I was barely conscious.[]
By cruel coincidence, Blake was already there, blocking the emergency room entrance while insisting doctors examine Mia first.[]
When he saw me, his expression darkened immediately.[]
“Riley, since when did you learn these tricks to gain sympathy? Even calling an ambulance!“]
“Keep acting. As long as I’m here, you’re not getting in. Let’s see if anything actually happens to you!“[]
The hospital corridor felt ice–cold as I lay helplessly on the stretcher, feeling my blood run cold.[]
Until three hours later, after Mia finally completed all her examinations, Blake held her while giving me a contemptuous look, ready to mock me further.
But I couldn’t hold on any longer. Blood erupted from my throat.]
Noticing something was wrong, Blake’s cold mask finally cracked. He grabbed the doctor by his collar and roared: “Why is she coughing blood? Do something to stop the bleeding!“]
Learning that my injuries were severe and required immediate surgery and blood transfusions, Blake kicked over a nearby trash can, his face terrifyingly dark.]
“Take me to sign the paperwork now. If there’s not enough blood, use mine!“]
“If anything happens to her, this hospital won’t stay in business!“[]
While Blake was pulled aside by doctors to sign consent forms, Mia suddenly lunged at me, grabbing my hand and forcing it to strike her belly.
She collapsed beside me, crying hysterically.
“Riley, you can beat me to death if you want, but please don’t hurt my baby!“[]
Blake whirled around, his eyes blazing with fury.
Before I could speak, he slapped me so hard I fell from the stretcher onto the floor. I curled into a ball from the pain, unable to make a sound.
I was the one who had been betrayed. The man I’d loved for ten years condemned me without even asking what happened.]
The excruciating pain in my abdomen told me one devastating truth: Our baby was gone with the last thread of connection between us going
Blake tore up the blood donation consent form and threw the pieces at my face
“Riley, aren’t you something? Since you love playing the victim so damn much, stay here and keep up your little performance!“[]
He carried Mia away, never looking back, leaving me shattered in a pool of blood.
As consciousness faded, I was rushed into surgery. Lying on the operating table, I could feel cold instruments moving inside me
Chapter 2
The child I had prayed day after day, was now nothing but blood washing away.
Even after surgery, Blake never sent a single message. He didn’t care whether I lived or died, much less about the child I had carried.[]
As the anesthesia wore off, I pulled out my phone with trembling hands, wanting to call a lawyer about divorce papers.[]
Just then, I accidentally saw trending news that Blake had bought out every maternity store in the city for Mia. In the viral photos, he knelt on one knee before Mia, lovingly pressing his face against her swollen belly, his eyes filled with adoration.[]
Memories flooded back-
Five years ago, Blake was caught in a mudslide while on a business trip.
Back then, I was eight months pregnant. My mother accompanied me as we rushed to the site, digging through rubble with our bare hands to find him. All ter. of my fingers were worn to the bone, and the stress caused me to lose our baby.
When more rocks began falling, my mother used her last strength to push Blake out of the way, while she was struck in the head and became comatose.
Before I could even grieve, I was rushed to intensive care, fighting for my life for three days.
When I finally regained consciousness, I learned my uterus was damaged, making future pregnancies difficult.[]
Back then, Blake knelt before me, swearing that even without children, he would love me for life.]
But now I had nothing left. Yet he had become a blade piercing straight through my heart.]
The carefully maintained composure finally broke.[]
I called my lawyer, sobbing, asking him to prepare divorce papers immediately.
Before leaving the hospital, I visited my mother’s room. Kneeling at her bedside, I cried uncontrollably.
“Mom, I’m so sorry. I haven’t been happy after all.“]
“I lost the baby. I can’t go on anymore. I don’t want Blake or this family anymore.“[]
“You won’t blame me, right?“]]
Mother lay quietly in her bed, unable to answer. But the tears sliding down her cheeks seemed to say everything.
