Chapter 12
Declan stood frozen in place.]
His heart was racing, his whole face burning hot.
Riley knew everything?
“Did… did Piper tell you this too?“]
Riley let out a bitter laugh. Piper wasn’t stupid enough to expose herself like that.]
“I heard you talking to Jaxon.“[]
“Declan, I will never forgive you. Not in this lifetime.“[]
Riley slammed the door in his face, and Declan dropped to his knees right there in the hallway.]
He covered his face, sobbing uncontrollably.[]
“Riley, I used to think I loved Piper, but this whole thing made me realize you’re the only one I’ve ever really loved.”
“When I found out about the miscarriage, all I could think about was how much you were hurting. I didn’t even remember Piper and Chloe…“]
Declan was falling apart trying to explain himself.[]
But deep down, he knew Riley would never forgive him.[]
They’d grown up together–of course she could see right through him.]
Declan slapped himself hard across the face, over and over.
Yeah, why hadn’t he believed her?]
At the restaurant, Riley had tried to explain…]
The only way Declan got to see Riley one last time was by bringing the divorce papers.[]

“Even if we can’t be married anymore, can we at least still be friends?“]
Riley didn’t answer, but the disgust in her eyes said everything.
A few days later, Declan dragged himself home like a broken man.]
The next day at the hospital, Piper and Jaxon came running up to him in a panic.
“What the hell happened? Riley had a miscarriage?!”
“What about the baby? What are we supposed to do? Chloe doesn’t have a kidney donor anymore!”
Declan stared at them numbly, gripping the edge of his desk to keep from punching them both
He said flatly. “There’s still one person who can donate.”
“Jaxon.”
Jaxon frowned. “Me? I didn’t pass the compatibility test!”
“You did. You just weren’t the best match.”
Now Piper was pinning all her hopes on Jaxon.]
And Jaxon agreed to do it.]
Chapter 12
Declan scheduled the surgery as fast as possible.
He gave Jaxon’s kidney to Chloe.]
And gave Chloe’s failing kidney to Jaxon.
When the surgery was over, Piper was sobbing with gratitude.
“Jaxon’s such a good man, not like that selfish bitch Riley!”
Declan’s lips twitched, but he didn’t say anything.
Within 24 hours, both patients went into severe organ rejection.
Chloe, being the smallest, died three days before Jaxon.[]
Piper had a complete breakdown, screaming in the hospital corridors demanding answers.[]
Meanwhile, Declan called the police on himself.]
He confessed to participating in organ trafficking and provided bank records showing Piper had paid him two hundred thousand dollars.
Piper was arrested before she could even arrange Chloe’s funeral.]
She denied everything, completely bewildered. “I didn’t do anything! Declan’s lying!“]
“Declan, why are you doing this to us?!”
After days of pretending, Declan finally snapped.[]
His eyes blazing with fury, he screamed: “My wife divorced me, my baby is dead, and she knows everything!”
“This is all because you set her up at that restaurant!“[]
“None of us are innocent! Everyone involved in this is guilty!“[]
“We all deserve to die…”

Riley paused when she saw the news, but quickly scrolled past.[]
She was divorced now.[]
Whether Declan lived or died had nothing to do with her anymore.[]
