Chapter 6
My gaze softened. I turned to Luke. “I want to
leave you. That’s all I need.”
He froze, clenching his fists. “You don’t trust
me, do you?”
“Luke, I’m tired. You and Lily have nothing to do with me. Let me go, let yourself go. See who’s really in your heart.”
I turned away. He was silent for a long time, then said “Rest
“Rect I’ll loov ”
<
He left. I breathed a sigh of relief, taking out
a phone from under my pillow. I texted Lily,
“You think you won? You’re a joke. As long
as I don’t want to, Luke will never choose
you.”
Lily, please deliver.
Half an hour later, Lily stormed in. Seeing me
in bed, she sneered, “Sarah, you think being
Mrs. Harrison is everything?”
“You’ll never have his love. But I will. With a
flick of my finger, he’ll abandon you!”
I looked at her calmly. “What we can’t have,
we always desire. Luke will find out what you
did, have you thought about the
consequences?”
<
Lily scoffed. “Luke trusts me. That won’t
happen!”
“Sarah, it’s an honor to be Mrs. Harrison. Be
grateful, you lowlife. You’re so lucky to climb
the social ladder! Don’t dream of marrying
Luke. You’re not worthy!”
Seeing her arrogance, I wondered why I felt
so weak after the donation, while she seemed
fine.
She didn’t look like a patient at all.
“Why are you doing this? Because I saw you
get rejected, so you’re getting revenge?”
Lily laughed, pinching my chin. “Yes! You’re
nothing! You’re just my plaything!”
<
“I’m not even sick. I did this to show you: If I
ask, he’ll get it for me, no matter what. Today
it’s your bone marrow, tomorrow it could be
your organs. Whatever I need, Luke will give it
to me. How can you compete with me?”
She patted my face. “Behave. Maybe you’ll live longer!”
So that’s it. This crazy woman killed my
mother! I won’t let her get away with it!
“Lily, you’re pathetic! Five years and you still
haven’t won Luke’s heart. Even if he’s
devoted to you, he never planned on marrying
you. The Harrison family won’t accept a sickly
daughter–in–law!”
Lily was not sick. I was shocked, but then I
realized she’d backed herself into a corner
Luke might love her, but the Harrisons
wouldn’t accept her.
Lily was furious. “You don’t understand! Once I’m cured, anything’s possible!”
“Leukemia relapse? Do you think you’ll be cured?”
I sneered. “Even if your illness is fake, everyone believes it. You blocked your own
escape route. If I were you, I wouldn’t be so stupid.”
“Lily, you’ll never be Mrs. Harrison. At best, you’re a shameful mistress. Your future children will be illegitimate!”
