Chapter 11

Chapter 11

I just wanted to teach Liv a lesson, not completely destroy her. I still hoped she would admit her mistake and offer compensation.

By now, Liv was pale as a sheet, trembling violently. Yet she remained stubbornly unrepentant, glaring at me venomously, as if trying to burn me down with her eyes.

She screamed, “Maddie, do you really have to be such a fucking bitch? You’re loaded as hell. You don’t have to be such a goddamn miser over two bags!”

Those two bags got someone locked up. You’re a fucking monster. You’re gonna get what’s coming to you,

for sure!”

She gave me a hard shove, and I almost lost my balance.

‘What the hell is going on here!” Before I could say anything, the female officer said sternly to Liv, “Knock it off! That kind of behavior could be considered disorderly conduct. Keep it in check!”

Liv’s face turned red and then went pale as she stared daggers at me but stepped back.

Seeing that she was still being stubborn, I looked at her coldly and said,

‘Why are you so worked up? The cops haven’t even said you did it yet. Unless you’ve got a guilty

conscience?”

Liv’s face instantly went white, and she clammed up.

Sophie suddenly piped up, “You guys are classmates. Is it really necessary to wreck someone’s life over this?’

She gave me a look of contempt and added, “Besides, who knows if those bags of yours are even real? You don’t look like someone who could afford such expensive bags. You just stuffed them in a cabinet. Who are you trying to fool?”

With someone backing her up, Liv got more gutsy.

“Yeah, that’s right! You’d better call off the police report and say it was a false alarm, or I’ll sue you for

slander!”

Watching how hold they were acting, I couldn’t help but shake my head.

I was trying to be understanding. I thought she could just pay for the damages, and we’d call it even, but they were really pushing their luck.

I gave Liv one last look and said, “Apologize on social media right this second and pay me back for the bags. Then I’ll drop the whole thing. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with the consequences.”

But Liv just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. Fine, you asked for it.

I nodded to the officers: “Since no one is confessing, let’s proceed officially.”

The police efficiently collected the evidence, placing my bags and a tweezers knife smeared with shampoo into sealed bags. They addressed my roommates: “Let’s go make statements.”

My other two roommates were genuinely innocent and followed the police downstairs without much

thought.

Only Liv kept cursing at me: “Maddie, I hope you drop dead! You think you’re special just because you were born into money?! You rich bastard!!”

ignored her and got into the police car.

iv remained defiant until we reached the station, still insisting she was innocent.

Within days, the police had gathered all the evidence. The tweezers knife matched the cuts on the bags

erfectly, and only Liv’s fingerprints were on it.

iv was detained.

Only then did she truly understand the gravity of her situation.

At the station, when Liv learned she could face over three years in prison, her bravado vanished. She ollapsed to her knees in front of me.

iv wailed, clutching my legs: “Maddie, I admit it! I was jealous of you!”

I-I was so jealous of how rich you are and all the advantages you have. I thought those bags wouldn’t mean nuch to you. Please, just give me one more chance and forgive me!”

looked at her face, all streaked with tears and twisted with emotion, and let out a cold laugh.

‘Where was this kind of attitude before?

‘You wait until the charges are already filed to admit what you did? It’s way too late for that now.”

I lifted my leg a bit and said, “Since we used to be roommates, I hope you have a ‘great time’ during your

rehabilitation.”

Liv’s face turned completely pale. “…My life is ruined. Please, Maddie, help me. I don’t want to go to jail!”

I leaned in closer and whispered, “Well, then why didn’t you think about that when you were slashing my

bags?”

“I-I…” she stammered and then her voice faded away.

I grabbed hold of her collar. “I seriously have no idea what I ever did to make you so mad at me. Drew was using my apartment and my car to deceive you. I helped you see what a jerk he really is. Instead of being grateful, you hate me. Are you out of your mind?”

“You’re poor and I’m rich, so that means I deserve to be treated badly by you? Do you really think my money just magically appeared out of thin air?!”

Liv covered her mouth with her hand and finally started sobbing uncontrollably.

I stood up straight and shook her hands off my legs.

You have to face the results of what you did. There’s nothing I can do to help you now!”

Liv looked at the police, then collapsed to the floor, her eyes vacant and lifeless, tears still streaming down

her face.

glanced at her once, then turned and walked away.

Don’t blame me for being heartless-I gave her many chances.

Good advice falls on deaf ears. She brought this on herself; karma comes for those who deserve it.
