Chapter 6
Liv looked at Drew in disbelief, grabbed her bag and started hitting him: “You fraud! Say something! Your car and apartment are both fake! You shameless jerk!”
Drew remained silent, taking the blows. He raised his head and shot me a look, the malice in his eyes
unmistakable.
The roommates didn’t speak, but their eyes fixed on him, barely concealing their mockery.
Someone laughed softly-quiet, but clearly contemptuous.
For someone like Drew who valued face above all else, being publicly exposed like this was worse than being skinned alive.
I spread my hands, smiling casually: “Since we’re roommates, you can stay and look around a bit longer.”
‘I’ll order some Thai food delivery for tonight-anyone in?”
Drew clenched his fists and stormed out without a word.
Liv shot me a furious glare, looking like she was ready to pounce and take a bite out of me. “Maddie!” she
issed, her teeth gritted tightly.
You’re gonna regret this!”
Then she stomped off in her high heels towards the elevator, the clicking sound echoing in the air.
The living room went completely quiet. Nobody had seen this wild twist coming and they were all left peechless, not knowing what to do or say. Then, out of the blue, this totally oblivious guy piped up:
‘Maddie, I had no clue you were swimming in cash like that! Hook me up with a huge order of that Thai food!”
His words broke the awkward tension, and the others chimed in: “Yeah, make it a big one, the priciest kind!”
[ flashed a smile and pulled out my phone.
“You got it.”
When I returned to the dorm that night, Drew was already waiting outside my building.
As soon as he saw me, he grabbed my wrist, squeezing painfully hard.

Chapter 6
I turned to see his eyes red-rimmed as he gritted his teeth:
“Maddie, seriously? You had to embarrass me like that in front of everyone?!
“Do you have any idea what they’re gonna say about me now? We had some good times together, and you just had to be so harsh?!”
I almost burst out laughing. I touched my ear, pretending to be shocked. “Whoa, did I really hear that right?
“You’re telling me that you used my apartment and my car to flirt with other girls, and I’m supposed to have protected your pride? You can’t be serious!”
I sneered at him. “What, are you some rare, exclusive designer item? Am I supposed to think you’re so special just because you’re the only one of your kind in the world?”
Drew’s face went from red to white and back again. Even though he knew he was in the wrong, he still
snapped angrily:
You could’ve at least not made me look like a fool in front of everyone. We could’ve talked about this in
private!”
‘Okay, yeah, I admit I lost my mind for a bit, but I still have feelings for you. That Liv… she was throwing herself at me, you know? She was constantly coming on to me, and I just couldn’t help myself.”
Drew wiped his face and tried to make excuses. “I didn’t mean for it to happen, Maddie. Can’t you just give ne another chance and forgive me this one time?”
He reached for my hand, but I felt physically ill, my temple throbbing with disgust. I violently shook him off
The day’s events were so absurdly surreal they felt almost drama. Truly, life is stranger than fiction.
never imagined Drew would have the nerve to ask for my forgiveness!
Probably hadn’t used me as his personal ATM enough yet.
I stared at Drew, enunciating each word: “Stop making me sick. We’re done. Give me back my car keys.”
Drew tried to say more, but I was too disgusted to look at him another second. I reached into his pocket, retrieved my car keys, and walked away.
After breaking up with Drew, I wasn’t as upset as I’d expected.
Perhaps his behavior was so shocking that I actually felt relieved to be rid of him.
But I never anticipated that Drew and Liv wouldn’t break up.

Chapter 6
Somehow Drew managed to smooth things over with Liv, and they brazenly started dating officially.
This didn’t matter to me-after our breakup, whoever he dated was none of my business.
Although I had moved on, those two still harbored resentment toward me.
A few days after the breakup, I woke up to find my phone flooded with messages and missed calls.
Surprised, I picked up my phone and saw messages from many classmates.
Zoe anxiously came to my bedside and whispered: “Maddie, is what Drew posted in the group chat true? I don’t think you’re that kind of person…”
Hearing her mention Drew’s name made my heart sink.
He must be up to something again.
