Chapter 6

The woman before me wore designer clothes and limited-edition jewelry.

I couldn’t help but smirk-those jewels were pieces I’d personally acquired at overseas auctions.

If my guess was right, this woman was Mia’s mother, Mrs. Davis’s daughter.

Now I could confirm it: Mrs. Davis’s daughter and granddaughter had stolen both my and Hannah’s

identities.

The woman stood stunned from my slap, her complexion shifting from pale to crimson.

“Who are you? How dare you hit me?!” she shrieked.

Hearing the commotion, several women rushed over, flanking her with looks that could kill.

She scrutinized me, her gaze lingering on my necklace.

“That necklace looks so familiar…”

‘Isn’t that the one your husband bought at auction?” a plump woman tugged at her sleeve.

That small gesture seemed to flip a switch in her. She suddenly lunged forward, jabbing her finger in my

face:

‘No wonder James hardly visits me anymore-he’s keeping a mistress!”

‘And you have the nerve to steal my things!”

Her “squad” immediately piled on with their own accusations.

“The audacity of this homewrecker! Don’t you know who this is? This is Mrs. Sven, James’s wife!”

The rotund woman before me was gesticulating wildly, a comical sight.

Hmph. They didn’t recognize me, but I certainly knew them.

Just the trophy wives of some business partners.

Notoriously brainless-no wonder they’d fallen in with Mia’s mother.

Especially the plump one, who seemed the most clueless of all.

Chapter 6

They all believed James controlled Sven Enterprises.

Combined with my years abroad for treatment where I rarely made public appearances…

Their husbands, afraid they’d embarrass them, hardly ever brought them to social events.

This had given Mia’s mother the perfect opportunity.

They clearly hadn’t recognized me. After all, their precious “Mrs. Sven” wore several pieces of jewelry I’d purchased overseas, making her look more authentic than me.

Seeing my silence, Mia’s mother assumed I was intimidated and doubled down on her mockery.

“What’s wrong, mistress? Jealous of my position?”

Contempt flickered in my eyes.

A crowd gathered at her commotion.

Bystanders pointed and whispered, hurling insults at Hannah and me.

‘Mistresses are so brazen these days.”

Parading around with her bastard child right in front of the legitimate wife.”

Don’t worry, Mrs. Sven, we’ll teach her a lesson!”

With that, they rolled up their sleeves, ready to charge at us.

What’s going on here?” The store manager rushed over, having heard the commotion.

The wealthy women’s faces lit up. “Manager, this woman was stealing. Ban her from the store! These luxury tems-she couldn’t pay for them even if she sold herself…”

They continued spewing their fabricated accusations.

But the manager didn’t play along. Instead, he looked at me with a pale, awkward expression.

Ban his own boss? If he did that, the store wouldn’t survive another day.

At that moment, Mia’s mother’s phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she deliberately put it on speaker.

“James, darling, I’m shopping. But someone here stole my things…”

James, however, wasn’t listening. He sounded frantic: “How much did your mother take? Nina found out!”

Chapter 6

“Didn’t I tell you to be careful?”

“Nina’s got the police investigating the missing finances! All the household staff have been taken in for questioning!”

She quickly hung up, but it was too late-everyone present had heard James’s words.
