Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“I had no idea it was from your mom! I swear on my life!”
Amber clutched my hands desperately.
“Hit me!”
“Please!”
“Slap me or something! I deserve it!”
Amber was about to to full-on kowtow when a hand shot between us.
His hand caught her forehead mid-descent, pulling the sobbing Amber to her feet.
He gave me a cold, measured look.
“The dead don’t come back. Things are just things. Get over it. Amber knows she messed up.”
Jason’s tone was so dismissive-like breaking my mother’s last keepsake was some minor inconvenience.
And I was the petty bitch for caring.
He wrapped his arm around Amber, positioning himself like her human shield.
“Drop it, Lily. Haven’t you made her feel guilty enough?”
I hadn’t said a single word. Hadn’t even reacted.
But somehow, with Amber playing victim, I was already the villain.
From stealing my earrings to taking my artwork, to smashing our wedding photo, to invading my home like she owned it-
And now, destroying the last thing I had from my mother.
While Jason lectured ME about being “mature” and “forgiving.”
My head buzzed.
My throat tightened.
My shaking fingers betrayed my rage.

Chapter 4
I stared at Amber still crying in Jason’s arms, walked straight up to her.
And before Jason could react, I grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall.
As Amber shrieked, I followed through with a swift kick to her knees, dropping her to the floor for real.
“You want to kowtow? Do it properly!”
I planted my foot on her knee and forced her head down hard against the floor.
The impact echoed through the room.
Amber let out a piercing scream as blood bloomed across her forehead.
“That’s how you apologize,” I snarled.
Rage blazing through me, I yanked her head back to slam it down again when Jason grabbed my wrist, his face twisted with anger.
“Let go!” he commanded.
“Go to hell!”
Jason wrestled with my grip, bending my fingers backward until I felt the nails starting to snap.
The pain was blinding, but he kept going, methodically forcing my fingers open.
“Enough, Lily! You’ve gone too far!”
Too far?
I laughed maniacally.
“News flash, Jason-people with actual souls can tell right from wrong! They don’t blindly protecting
whoever they want to fuck!”
“Since she means so much to you—”
“TINE!”
My nails were splitting, blood dripping everywhere.
When Jason’s grip faltered in shock, I raked my fingers down Amber’s face with every ounce of hatred I had.
My nails tore completely off as her skin split open.

Chapter 4
Amber completely broke down.
1 let out a desperate laugh.
“How’s THAT for a filter, sweetheart?”
“Welcome to consequences!”
“Let me tell you something, Jason,”
I snarled, watching his shocked expression and Amber’s hysterical screaming.
“I was never your doormat. You should have known that!”
“JASON!”
“You’ve pushed me too far this time!”
“Mark my words-”
“I will destroy you both or die trying!”
