In my fury, I finally lost it.
Jason’s face flashed from shock to guilt in an instant.
‘How was I supposed to know you’d be back home? You know, I couldn’t ditch this event, so I had to send
Amber to catch the dress. Why are you turning this into World War III?”

“Lily, please,” Amber whimpered.
“I didn’t mean for any of this! Don’t be mad at Jason. I’ll quit tomorrow-vanish into thin air! Jason loves you so much. Please don’t make him unhappy, okay?”
I was so sick of Amber’s fake-sweet act.
Watching her sob actually dried my own tears.
