Chapter 7
Orion’s mother turned pale, then bolted–covering her face as she fled in shame.
As for me? I was too immersed in the joy of my upcoming wedding to give that pathetic scene a second thought.
The ble
big day came sooner than I’d expected.
Lucian gave me a grand wedding.
Every step of the ceremony was solemn, elegant, and steeped in meaning. For a moment, it felt like even heaven and earth bore witness
to our union.
As we neared the end of the ceremony, the doors suddenly burst open.
“I object! I don’t agree to this marriage!”
The guests turned in surprise.
It was Orion Sterling.
Fresh out of detention, his hair buzzed short, his face sunken, a huge bouquet clutched in his hands.
He stumbled toward me, completely ignoring the chaos he was about to cause
Lucian’s bodyguards intercepted him immediately, stepping in with military precision.
Orion dropped to his knees and held out the flowers with trembling arms.
“Delphine,” he choked out, “I just got released. The first thing I heard was that you’re getting married.”
“Please… give me one more chance. Let me chase you again.
I stared at him, stunned–but mostly speechless at the sheer audacity.
Luclan leaned close and murmured in my ear, “This is the loser you used to date?”
I flushed with embarrassment. “Everyone makes mistakes.”
We whispered and pointed at Orion like he was some circus attraction.
Orion saw us. His face briefly twisted in anger.
But he quickly stuffed it down, then did something even more pathetic.
He threw the flowers aside and began slapping himself across the face.
Over and over.
“Delphine, I’m sorry. I hurt you.
“Delphine, I’m sorry I never considered your feelings.
“Delphine, I’ve divorced Seraphina. From now on, there’s only you.”
“Please… just give me another chance.”
I didn’t respond.
Instead, I turned to my bridesmaids.
“Ladies, take a good look,” I said with a smile. “This is what a textbook loser ex looks like. A walking cautionary tale. Don’t be as blind as I was.”
The entire venue broke into laughter.

The guests looked at Orion with open scorn. Not a single person found his little scene touching–only pathetic.
He had barged into my wedding to propose, but no one thought he was brave. Just sad. And shameless.
Still unwilling to give up, Orion looked like he might try to plead again.
Lucian waved a hand.
His guards dragged Orion out like garbage.
The wedding resumed as if nothing had happened.
I could feel it in the air–every friend and family member in the room was truly happy for us.
After our honeymoon, I started hearing whispers about Orton
Apparently, the only reason he was released was because his mother had sold their house and drained every last cent of her savings to repay the company.
They had nothing left.
After being throw out of our wedding, he’d tried to rush back in
That time, the bodyguards didn’t hold back.
They broke his leg
Orion limped home, dragging his half–crippled body behind him–only to run into some of his former “friends.
These were the same people who had beaten me during the wedding incident.
Each of them had paid dearly.
Some had sold property. Some had taken out loans. All had nearly gone to prison. And all blamed him.
After all, it had been his wedding.
They claimed they were only trying to help him.
Now, furious and ruined, they turned on him.
They demanded he repay them.
Orion couldn’t give theris a penny
They pushed him. Shoved him. The fight escalated.
And finally he got beaten to a pulp.
