It wasn’t until Elaine came to the hospital looking for Andreas that he snapped back to reality. “Is a friend sick? I heard from Kenny that you haven’t been to the office all day.”
Andreas shook his head. He didn’t know why he’d rushed to the hospital, or why he kept staring at the entrance, hoping I would walk in for a follow–up appointment. He’d even forgotten to handle his beloved work, which had never happened before.
He just had this vague feeling that maybe I would come for my check–up, and then he could confront me about why I hadn’t been returning his calls.
Time flew by, and half a year passed. Andreas waited for my phone call every single day, but it never came.
On his wedding day with Elaine, Andreas paced anxiously in his room, his fingers trembling as he gripped his phone.
Quentin laughed, saying, “I’ve been waiting for the day you’d become my brother–in–law.”
Andreas frowned, feeling deeply unsettled. He’d thought about becoming Quentin’s brother–in–law before, but definitely not like this. He kept stalling until the scheduled ceremony time had already passed, with everyone urgently pressing him to proceed.
When Andreas was pushed onto the stage to exchange rings, he was in a complete trance. He looked around the crowd, unable to find me anywhere. After all, I was beautiful, and even when dressed simply, he could always spot me instantly in a crowd.
If I were there, he wouldn’t have missed me. But after scanning the entire room, his eyes gradually dimmed with disappointment.
The officiant asked him, “Mr. Andreas Fitzgerald, do you take Ms. Elaine Wilde to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
And somehow, the moment he heard Elaine’s name, Andreas blurted out, “I don’t.”

The noisy wedding venue suddenly fell silent as he continued scanning the crowd one by one. Yet, I was still nowhere to be found.
In the past, whenever he was present at any event, I would always be there watching him. My gaze never left him,
not even for a moment.
Andreas‘ mind exploded with images of me–my laughter, crying, tantrums, and the quiet way I used to look at him with love. However, he could no longer see any of my expressions.
Ignoring his family’s attempts to stop him, Andreas pushed through the crowd and escaped the scene step by step. He didn’t know what he was doing–he just wanted to find me. Even if it meant catching me in bed with Samuel, he didn’t care.
Andreas hired people to investigate my whereabouts, but Kenny reported back, “Ms. Wilde’s records completely disappeared six months ago.”
For the first time in his life, Andreas tasted der

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you Isadora’s whereabouts.” Samuel coldly refused Andreas‘ request.

I never imagined that one day, Andreas would come begging to Samuel for my sake. After all, he’d always disliked the men around me.
However, Samuel had long known how deeply Andreas had hurt me. Besides, Samuel only knew I was part of a confidential program–he wasn’t clear on the specific time and location, either.
“Samuel, do we have company? Should I add another dish?”
“You have a girlfriend?” Andreas and Quentin demanded simultaneously.
“She’s my wife,” Samuel replied.
“You have a wife, and you’re still messing around with Isadora? What do you take Isadora for?”
Samuel retorted. “When did I ever mess around with Isadora? Isadora and I are just fellow students–nothing more. Everyone says she used me to climb the ranks, and I wanted to clear that up.
“Still, she told me that people who trust her won’t need explanations. So, why waste my breath on those who don’t? You two are supposed to be her brother and fiance–is this how much you trust her?”
Hearing that, Andreas and Quentin were stunned.
