I turned my head to see Elaine in a wedding dress, leaning against Andreas‘ shoulder in a shop window–they looked perfect together.Â
The driver slowed down and asked, “Do you want to say goodbye? We still have half an hour.”Â
“No need,” I shook my head and urged, “Let’s go. We shouldn’t be late.”Â
In the rearview mirror, Andreas was chasing after us like a madman, and my phone’s custom ringtone kept going off. I checked it briefly, then blocked Andreas on all platforms.Â
Finally having a moment to breathe after days of chaos, I eventually fell asleep in the car. When I opened my eyes again, we had arrived at a place I didn’t recognize at all.Â
“Ms. Wilde, welcome aboard the rocket program.”Â
