But then I caught sight of the welcome gift Jett handed me, a file tied directly to Luca.
Inside were photos and videos, a full record of Luca’s private life overseas spanning the last ten years.
I opened the file and started watching.
That’s when I realized Luca didn’t just have Maisie. He had three or four other women scattered abroad.
He frequented nightclubs, always flanked by women, utterly careless about discretion.}
Did he think Maisie wouldn’t uncover any of this just because she stayed in the US??
Jett grinned wide and asked, “Bro, tell me, was this welcome gift solid or what?“!
“Solid,” I replied without hesitation.
Though my feelings for Maisie were gone, that didn’t mean I wouldn’t settle the score with Luca.
With this kind of proof in hand, I was eager to see how those two scumbags would react.
Jett then slid me another file.
“This is the second one, his job overseas.”}
I opened it and learned Luca was just a regular employee.
Actually, not even that. He was still an intern.
If memory served me right, he was always bragging to Maisie about how impressive he was, wasn’t he??
He bragged about working on Wall Street, claiming he’d been a star investor and had led four or five unicom projects.

Jett clapped me on the shoulder and said, “Just tell me what kind of woman you want. I’ll find her for you, guaranteed. “I
I gave a bitter smile and shook my head.”
“Forget it. I’m not looking to get into a relationship anytime soon.”
“Fair enough. Then just eat, drink, and hang out here for a few days.“I
Throughout it all, Jett never once mentioned recruiting me into his company.
I knew he wanted to, but he held back.
“I want to start from the ground up. Is that okay?“%
“What?”
Jett looked surprised. When he realized I wanted to join Nova, he clapped his hands excitedly.
“I’ve been waiting for you to say that!“}
“But starting from the bottom? No way. The lowest I’ll let you go is department head.”
Keep in mind that Nova was one of the top 100 global companies, and even among them, it ranked near the top.
Being a department head meant the salary and benefits were at least five times better than what Renner Corporation offered. Jett had wanted to poach me for a long time, but he’d always kept it subtle.
In the blink of an eye, a week passed, and my mood had lifted considerably, mostly thanks to Jett.
Before officially joining Nova, I passed along the two “welcome gifts” he gave me, sending them anonymously to Maisie.
By then, Maisie had more or less emerged from her grief over losing me.
She even staged a funeral for me.”
At my gravestone, she put on a show, promising she’d live strong from now on and that when the child was bom, they’d honor me as their godfather.
Then she threw away all our shared memories, photos, and keepsakes.
It was Luca who told her that holding onto those things would only bring unnecessary sorrow.
His true motive was clear: he wanted to marry Maisie, work his way into the Renner family, and slowly take control of Renner Corporation.
He also aimed for their child to inherit. The Renner family was barely wealthy in their region, but Maisie was their only daughter.
If he just waited for her parents to pass, Renner Corporation would be his.
But just as Maisie was about to return home, she received the anonymous files I’d sent.
With nothing better to do in the car, she opened them.
The first thing she saw was a photo album, pictures of Luca going in and out of nightclubs.
That didn’t surprise her. She already knew about it.
Luca never bothered to hide that much.
