I proposed that I personally go to Declan Graham’s residence to uncover the truth.
As soon as I mentioned it, Finn was quick to oppose.
“No way, that’s far too dangerous. You need to understand, Declan Graham is not a normal person. Over the years, we’ve sent in people, but none have returned.
Being a woman makes it even riskier for you. It’s like sending a lamb into a lion’s den.”
Declan Graham is shrewd. His residence is secluded and heavily guarded. We’ve sent people in before, but they were discovered and never
came back.
But I know this might be the only chance.
NEW
moother parents exactly for this day

I’ve long been aware of Declan Graham’s habits. I purposefully had Nora Anderson bring him home to meet her parents, exactly for this day.
“We’ve only sent men before, which is why we never succeeded. As a woman, I have an advantage. If I appear to be forced, he might actually lower his guard. It’ll help me delve deeper to find evidence of his crimes. I’m sure he’s responsible for more than one murder. Finn, I have to avenge my best friend.”
Seeing my determination, Finn simply sighed and said nothing more.
He just reminded me to be cautious.
He knows how deep my hatred for Declan Graham runs.
They installed a micro–camera and GPS on me.
Once I infiltrate and see evidence of Declan Graham’s atrocities, they’ll report it to the police immediately, and they’ll rescue me as quickly as possible.
I trust their capabilities.
After planning everything, daylight broke, and I drove back home.
I heard Nora Anderson crying hysterically.
“What do we do? What if Cora Anderson heard and ran away? Mom, Dad, if I don’t bring her back today, Declan Graham won’t let me go.”
“That ungrateful girl. We shouldn’t have adopted her in the first place. She’s useless when it matters.”
Perhaps I’d long since been disappointed in them. Even knowing they never truly cared for me as their daughter, my heart was calm, with not a ripple of emotion.
I slightly curled my lips and opened the door.
The moment everyone saw me, the room fell silent.
Feigning ignorance, I asked with a puzzled look, “What’s going on?”
Nora Anderson wiped her tears, her previously sorrowful face breaking into a smile.
“Sis, where did you go? You disappeared, and Mom and Dad were so worried about you.”
My parents chimed in.
“Yeah, Cora, why did you leave without telling us? We were worried sick.”
I raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly.
“Really? You’re suddenly so worried about me? Funny, you didn’t seem so concerned when I was seriously ill.”
My parents exchanged glances, speechless. Back then, they told me to get lost.
Nora Anderson affectionately linked her arm with mine.
“Sis, that was a misunderstanding. When you were sick, Mom and Dad cried their eyes out. We just didn’t have the money for your treatment.
But now you’re healthy and back, and Mom and Dad brought you home immediately. We’re family. Families don’t hold grudges overnight, right?”
Their words made me laugh in anger.
Bringing me back was just to squeeze every bit of value out of me to pave the way for their real daughter.

Nora Anderson is a few years younger than me. Ever since I graduated and started earning, I’ve been paying for her clothes, food, shelter, and transportation.
Yet, they took everything I did for granted.
Seeing me smile, Nora thought I was letting it go and continued.
“You haven’t eaten, right? Mom and Dad made your favorite lotus seed porridge. Have some.”
With those words, my parents hurriedly brought over the porridge.
“Cora, we just made this. Drink it while it’s hot to warm your stomach.”
This family is full of schemes, all aimed at me.
I do like lotus seed porridge, but Nora doesn’t, so they never made it for me.
But now, to make me suffer for their daughter, they put in the effort.
Seeing me back, they couldn’t wait any longer.
I nonchalantly took the bowl and drank the porridge under their watchful eyes.
