She was covered in blood, locked in a cage, her limbs broken, lying limp on the ground. When she saw me, she tried to speak but couldn’t.
She could only let out a weak scream.
The scene was horrifying.
Nora Anderson, this… was your chosen path.
“So, you see? To save herself, she betrayed her sister. I punished her for you. You owe me a good reward.”
Declan whispered in my ear.
I felt nauseated.
“With all the women you’ve harmed, aren’t you afraid their families will come after you?”
Declan laughed.
“Afraid of what? They’re just ordinary people with no power. I gave their families money for each woman. Some even settled for a million dollars to cut ties with their daughters.
Besides, weren’t they all with me for money? They were greedy, and I was there to punish them.”
My eyes filled with tears.
“That’s your justification? If you hadn’t set the trap, how would they have fallen into it? Did you ever consider that some were innocent, forced into this to save others? What gives you the right to trample on others‘ lives?”
Declan was surprised by my emotional outburst. He pretended to be gentle, wiping my tears away.
“Why are you crying? Don’t worry, as long as you behave, I won’t do that to you. Those women were too disobedient, always trying to escape, so I had to punish them.
So, stay here obediently, okay?”
He used the sweetest voice to say the most hateful words, making me shiver.
I let out a sarcastic laugh.
“Declan Graham, do you know what consequences are?”
Declan scoffed.
“Consequences? I never believe in them. They’re just fantasies for ordinary people. To me, they’re a joke.”
A hint of malice flashed in my eyes as I pulled out a knife and shouted.
“I am your consequence.”
