I stayed silent the entire time until one of the staff members I had brought with me interrupted Jackson. “Ms. Seraphina, this is the necklace made from your pup’s ashes and remains. Please take it.”

 

Jackson abruptly fell silent, and his breathing turned ragged. “What happened to the pup?”
