Chapter 1
However, for the first time in a long while, I unexpectedly received an e-invitation to a wedding.
It was sent by my stepsister, Laila Woodfield. When I opened it, it turned out to be an invitation to her and my mate Jackson Daveed’s wedding.
She even sent me a live stream link to the wedding. I clicked it open and saw Jackson giving Laila a diamond ring. She looked delicately charming in her golden wedding dress.
Laila blushed and extended her hand as Jackson slipped the ring onto her finger. But before she could even lower her hand, Jackson eagerly lifted her veil and pulled her tightly into his arms.
Amid the teasing cheers of friends around them, the two embraced each other and kissed passionately.
By the end of the kiss, Laila’s legs were so weak she could barely stand, and only then did Jackson stop, gasping.
He only had eyes for his first love, Laila. He seemed to have completely forgotten about me, who was pregnant and staying at home.
A long while later, Laila messaged me, saying, “Sorry, Seraphina. I sent the message to you by mistake.”
She even attached a tongue-sticking-out emoji.
I called Jackson and asked softly, “Where are you?”
He let out a cold laugh and mocked me, “Of course, I’m working! Can you not live without a man? Trying to spy on me again?
“You’re already pregnant. Can’t you behave? Are you really that desperate for love?”
I sent him the wedding livestream link Laila had given me, and he immediately became flushed and flew into a rage. “Laila was poisoned with wolfsbane. I’m just giving her the wedding she wished for. You’re making us sound despicable. Don’t you know whether I’ve cheated or not?”
How self-righteous he sounded.
He was well aware that I lost my wolf to save him, so now that I was an ordinary person, how could I possibly still have the special mindlink that connected werewolves?
On the other end of the call, Jackson’s harsh words seemed to drown me like a tidal wave.
