Sophia had dressed up carefully, arriving punctually at the courthouse.
At nine o’clock, with perfect sunshine and refreshing air, she stood at the entrance in a pretty dress, carrying the bag Mason had bought her, eagerly anticipating.
The thought of officially becoming Mrs. Sullivan filled her with excitement.
But by ten o’clock, Mason still hadn’t arrived.
He had never been late before. Even with company matters, he would postpone everything to see her.
Today, he was already an hour late.
Angrily, she took out her phone to call Mason, but no one answered.
“What the hell? He doesn’t show up, doesn’t answer his phone–what’s that supposed to mean? Is he standing me up?”
She stomped her foot in frustration but decided to wait a little longer.
She waited until noon. The courthouse closed for lunch, and still Mason hadn’t come.
Sweating profusely in the heat, Sophia couldn’t wait any longer. She took a taxi to Mason’s mansion.
At the entrance, she saw Mason shouting at his staff in the main hall.
“Idiots! You can’t even find one person! Listen to me–tomorrow is my fifth anniversary with my wife. No matter what, you must find her and bring her back before tomorrow!”
“Sir, Mrs. Sullivan hasn’t been seen since she left the hospital. We don’t know where she is!”
“Yes, the surveillance footage only shows her getting into a Cullinan…”
After listening at the door for a while, Sophia finally understood–Mason was looking for Charlotte.
Charlotte had disappeared?
But for him to forget she was waiting at the courthouse for him just because of Charlotte? That’s seriously messed up.
Growing angrier by the minute, Sophia stormed in.
“Mason.”
“Charlie?”
Mason looked up excitedly, but his expression immediately darkened when he saw Sophia.
“It’s you. What do you want?”
His tone, his expression–this wasn’t how Mason used to greet her.
“Did you forget? We were supposed to get married today.”

“I’m sorry.”
Mason had indeed forgotten. His mind was completely consumed with thoughts of Charlotte, and he’d completely forgotten about his plan to marry Sophia.
“I forgot. Some other time.”
“Why later? The courthouse is still open. Let’s go
“I’m busy.”
now, okay?”
Mason slumped onto the sofa. “Just go. home.”
“You’re looking for Charlotte, aren’t you? She’s doing this on purpose. She knows we’re getting married, so she’s hiding to make you worry.”
“Is that so?”
Mason thought she might be right. Charlotte loved him so much–how could she leave him?
She probably wanted him to worry, staging this whole disappearance.
Sophia pressed on: “What about the company? Did she go to work?”
“She…”
Mason was about to answer when a call came in from the office.
“Mr. Sullivan, some advertisers came to the company asking to see the advertising director, but Director Klein didn’t come in today. We don’t know what to do.”
“What about Charlie? Can any of you contact her?”
“Sir, it wouldn’t be appropriate to contact Charlotte at this point, considering she’s already resigned.”
“What did you say?”
Mason frowned, his voice beginning to shake. “Resigned? When did she submit her resignation? Why wasn’t I informed?”
“She submitted it the same day as Director Klein. You personally approved it. Don’t you remember?”
BOOM!
His mind went blank. Mason suddenly found it difficult to breathe.
Charlotte had submitted her resignation early on, and after receiving the divorce certificate, she’d completely vanished from the hospital.
She wasn’t planning to come back?
Hadn’t he told her they would remarry after three months?
She had agreed to the divorce–she had even suggested it. He thought she had accepted his relationship with Sophia.
In their social circle, wasn’t this how things worked? Didn’t all wives just turn a blind eye and move on?

“Mason, remember this: I won’t tolerate even a speck of sand in my eye. If one day you betray me, I’ll leave you without
hesitation.”
Her words from the past echoed in his ears, along with the determination in her eyes.
Mason collapsed onto the floor, finally understanding the truth: she was dead serious! Charlotte West always meant what she
said!
