Chapter 6
Thankfully, the kind stranger had donated 400cc of RH-negative blood. It was enough to save April’s life.
What a cruel irony.
Her biological father hoarded an entire blood bank, refusing his own daughter a single drop. Yet a complete stranger- who left no name or number-donated their blood, vanishing without so much as a goodbye.
Little by little, color returned to April’s cheeks. Her tiny lips instinctively searched for milk. The nanny, watching the baby closely, finally articulated the thought heavy on her heart.
“Ma’am… something’s not right. I’ve always been careful around the baby. I’d never let anything sharp near her.”
“But the doctor said… her wound was caused by a blade… and she’s barely moved from her crib…”
A chill stabbed through Amelia’s chest. She rushed home.
She ripped back the sheets in April’s crib, revealing them-several box cutter blades, gleaming beneath the velvet folds.
Some were stained with her daughter’s blood.
A buzzing roar exploded in Amelia’s mind. This was the same crib she’d asked Edmond to purchase during her
postpartum recovery.
As usual, he hadn’t bothered to handle it himself. He simply told his assistant, “Buy the most expensive one.”
Blanche had been the one to place the order. She must’ve hidden the blades.
Amelia’s skin turned cold. Blanche had tried to kill her daughter.
Did Edmond even know? And if he did… would he care enough to seek justice for April?
No one could answer that.
Amelia clutched her child tightly and curled up in the corner of the couch. She shut her eyes, whispering to the sleeping baby in her arms.
“Don’t be scared, April… Mommy won’t let anyone hurt you again.”
Only two days left. Just two days, and she could leave this nightmare behind with her daughter.
When Edmond returned from his business trip, he barely stepped inside before lashing out.
“Amelia, you’ve been out of control lately! I was only gone a few days, and you caused that whole scene at the hospital! Did you even think about what that did to my reputation?!”
Amelia felt a bitter coldness crawl over her skin.
He glanced down at the sleeping baby in her arms, his brows furrowing deeper. “You even used our daughter to stir up drama… I’m honestly losing-
“We’re done,” Amelia cut him off coldly.
Edmond froze, then grabbed her arm in a death grip.
“Done? What do you mean, done? Amelia, we’ve been together since we were kids-we have years between us! You’re Chapter 6

really going to throw that all away over something like this?”
Something like this. The words made her heart ache like needles under the skin.
She raised her voice. “Didn’t you say over the phone that Blanche is your wife? That Finn is your son?”
His eyes flickered, then he turned his head away, guilty.
“That was an emergency! Everyone at that private hospital recognizes Mrs. Robinson. If I’d told the truth, what if they refused to treat Finn?”
Just as Amelia was about to expose the fake marriage certificate-proof they weren’t even legally married-Edmond threw
her completely off guard.
“I get it now,” he said slowly, narrowing his eyes. “You’re jealous of Blanche, aren’t you? You know you’re the one I really love. But you still picked a fight… using our daughter, trying to win me back?”
“This is because she had a son, isn’t it? And you gave birth to a girl. So now you’re throwing a tantrum?”
Before Amelia could respond, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, then tossed out coldly, “You stay home and
reflect. And don’t bother coming to the company,” before storming out.
Amelia forced herself to swallow the rising bile of fury and grief.
Their marriage license wasn’t even real. Legally, she had no grounds to sue Blanche for division of marital assets. But
even so-what was hers would not be taken from her without a fight.
She rechecked her shares, confirmed the holdings again, and began preparing to transfer them to other shareholders at a
discount.
But just as she arrived at the company, her phone rang. It was the nanny.
“Ma’am! You need to come back-now!”
“A woman showed up saying she’s Mr. Robinson’s assistant. She brought a kid with her and barged into the house-said Mr. Robinson gave her permission. I tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen!”
