That day I couldn’t sleep. Leon’s words kept ringing in my head.
“But Samuel-“}
Why did Leon mention that name? What does he have to do with Samuel? Shouldn’t they not know each other?”
I finally contacted Leon. I asked him to meet me in a quiet park, where I used to calm down.
Not long after, Leon arrived. His face looked tense, probably knowing where this was going.
“What did you mean that time, Leon? Why did you mention Samuel’s name?” I asked coldly, hugging my own stomach, trying to calm the emotional turmoil.

Leon took a deep breath. “Agnes, I… I didn’t know at first. But Samuel came to me, he said you were a dangerous woman. He said y were a mistress of someone’s husband. Samuel himself and you ruined his marriage with Livia. He said you’re full of drama and like to turn the other cheek.“}
I closed my eyes for a moment, then looked at Leon with a sharp look. “You believe all that without hearing any explanation from me?”
Leon was silent, not answering.
“In that case, now I’ll give you the facts,” I continued, taking out a folder from my bag. I threw it into his lap.
Leon opened it slowly, reading the contents of the document and the photocopy of the proof of report. It was clearly written: Samuel is a suspect in the murder of my biological father.
“My father was murdered. All the evidence pointed to Samuel. But because of influence and money, he got away. Even managed to twist the facts as if I did it. I almost went to jail because of him, Leon.”
Leon’s face paled.
“And about the household? Samuel had an affair with Livia when he was my husband. I was the one who was cheated on. I was the one who was destroyed. I was lied to, over and over again. And you know what hurts the most? You believed them without even asking me.“> Leon looked down deeply, his hands trembling as he clutched the document.}
“I… I don’t know. I was wrong. I was really wrong, Agnes,” he said quietly, regretfully. “I’m sorry… I’m only human, and I… I got caught up in their game.”
I looked at him flatly, my heart still filled with disappointment.
“You’re right, you’re only human. But so am I. And I’ve been victimized too many times by ‘ordinary‘ humans who have no heart.“}]
Leon looked up, a guilty look in his eyes. “I’ll fix everything, I promise.“}
But I just stared deeply at her. “You can start by keeping the most basic promise… not to hurt me anymore.“}
And this time, it was me who turned my back on her. Because forgiveness doesn’t always have to mean going back.
It was raining softly that day, but the anger in my chest was heavier than anything that fell from the sky.
Leon finally told me everything–including where Samuel and Livia lived. The luxurious apartment in the city center that I once wanted to live in with Samuel, before everything turned into a nightmare.
I stood in front of door 303. My heartbeat was pounding loudly. My hands were already clenched, my jaw tightened. It didn’t take long for the door to open, and out popped a very familiar face–Samuel, stiil with that manipulative smile.
“Agnes?” She looked a little surprised. “What are you?“}
A heavy slap landed on her cheek before she could finish her sentence. The sound of my slap echoed in the hallway of the apartment. Samuel staggered a little, enduring the pain.
“It’s because you’ve ruined my life. Again!” my voice was cold, full of anger. “And you think I’m going to keep quiet?“}
Before Samuel could reply, the sound of high heels could be heard from inside. Livia appeared in a thin nightgown, as if she wanted to show off how ‘comfortable‘ she was living there.”
“Why are you here, Agnes? Feeling rivaled again?” she said sarcastically.
Without hesitation, I stepped forward and *plak!*–a second slap landed, this time for Livia. She was startled, even tumbling slightly onto the sofa behind her.
“This is because you are never satisfied with taking what is not yours. First you took my husband. Now you’re messing around again behind my back, even when I’m heavily pregnant.”
Samuel tried to move closer, probably to hold me back, but I glared at him. “Touch me one more time, Samuel, and I’ll make sure you don’t just get a slap. I’ll make sure you get back to where you belong in prison!“}
Livia just held her cheeks, her eyes red, anger and fear mixed together.”
“Agnes… you’re crazy,” Samuel hissed.
I smiled sarcastically. “No, Sam. I’m actually sane now. Very sane. And I’ll make sure you two won’t be this comfortable all the time.”
I turned around, leaving them still frozen in the doorway, with red cheeks and shattered egos. This time, it wasn’t me who was crushed.” Because the storm that you created for yourself, eventually turned around to hit you.}}
My steps did not falter. I paused in the doorway of the apartment, looking back at Samuel and Livia who were still silent, as if choked by surprise and embarrassment.
I lifted my chin, staring at them with a piercing gaze that I never had back when I was the ‘easily bullied Agnes‘.
just want to give you a warning,” I said softly but coldly. “If you think I’m still a weak woman that you can just step on, you’re sadly
