Three days after the surprise, Leon woke me up in a way that again made me stare and smile to myself.”
On the breakfast table, he had prepared heart–shaped pancakes, complete with fruit toppings that he knew I liked. But what made my eye. widen… was the small piece of paper beside the plate.
“You have today off from cooking. Change into something comfortable, we’ll go for a while. Trust me.“}]
I looked at her suspiciously as she emerged from the kitchen with a big smile. “Where are we going?” I asked.”
Leon raised an eyebrow. “Surprise again. But you have to close your eyes first.“}]
With my curiosity peaked, I followed his lead. A few minutes later, he took me to a place that… I never imagined he would prepare:
A small room transformed into a nursery room. The walls are decorated with paintings of clouds, a baby bookshelf filled with some classic fairy tales, and a corner containing a small crib with the name “Baby A” hanging on it.
“Leon…” my voice choked.}
“I know it’s still early, but I want you to know… I’m excited for him to be born,” she said softly, standing behind me and hugging me from behind.
I covered my mouth, holding back tears of emotion. I don’t know when this man started filling the empty space in my heart.}
She not only accepted my situation… but also welcomed my future with love.
“How?” she whispered softly. “Impress you enough?“}
I nodded quickly. “More than enough…“}
Then I turned my body around and hugged her tightly. For the first time, that hug wasn’t because I needed support. But because I had found a home–in the arms of someone who wanted to stay, even when everyone else left.}
I had just finished tidying up the small bookshelf in the nursery room when the doorbell sounded. Leon, who was fixing the chandelier, immediately glanced at me.
“I’ll open it,” I said quickly.
But as soon as the door opened, my heart almost stopped beating.}
He stood there. With a face that was no longer as wrinkled as before… but her eyes were still full of hatred.}]
“Samuel…” I whispered softly.
He grinned wryly. “You must think I’ve disappeared, huh?” he said coldly. “Very wrong, Agnes.“}
I tried to close the door, but he held it shut with his hand.
“I won’t let you be happy, especially with another man.”
“Go away, Samuel! We have no more business.“>
He chuckled, his tone sarcastic. “Oh, we have a lot of business, Agnes. You think I’ve forgotten how you embarrassed me in front of my own family? In front of my office mates? You think I’ll forget how you almost put me in jail?”
My hand gripped the door handle tightly.
Leon suddenly appeared from behind me, standing between me and Samuel. His face was flat, but the look in his eyes turned sharp. “Don’t ever come to this house again,” he said calmly but stressfully.)
Samuel snorted. “Wow… the savior prince is here. But alas, he only knows half of the story.”
I felt my body start to tremble. Not from fear but from anger.
“That’s enough, Samuel,” I said, my voice firmer now. “I’m done with the past. If you still have a grudge, that’s your business. But don’t pull me back into your black hole.“}
Samuel squinted. “You think this is the end, Agnes? It’s just beginning.“)
And with that sentence, he turned and left.
I leaned against the door I had just closed tightly, my breathing heavy.
Leon gave me a long look. “You’re not alone, Agnes. No matter
what he tries to do, I’m here for you.“>
And for the first time… I felt safe, even though the storm was threatening.
A few days after the incident in front of the house, I felt like I was being shadowed by something. There were times I felt like he was watching from afar. But whenever I talked about it, Leon tried to calm me down.}]
“I’ve installed additional CCTV in the back and front yards. So if he come
over the dinner table.”
Inodded slowly, but anxiety lingered in my chest.
again, we can call the police,” Leon said as he held my hand
However, Leon always knew how to calm me down. That night, after dinner, he took me up to the attic of the house that had been locked. ‘I have something to show you,” he said with a mysterious smile.”
As soon as the attic door opened, I was stunned.}]
The walls are filled with little photos of us over the past month. Candid photos of me laughing, photos of the two of us on the sofa, photos of me touching my stomach with a faint smile…
And in the center, there was one large framed inscription:
You, your child, and me… are us. And I promise, I will protect this child.” he said, stroking my stomach.

I held my breath.
“Leon…“%
She took my hand, then knelt down slowly.”
“I know I’m not the biological father of this baby. But if you let me, I want to be the first to welcome her into the world. I want him to know that he has a father who will never leave his mother.“%
My tears spilled over immediately. I knelt before him, hugging Leon tightly, not caring about the tears soaking his shirt.
At that moment, my fear of Samuel, the past, and other traumas seemed to evaporate for a moment. Because Leon wrapped me in a sense of security that I had never found before.
However, somehow, within the happiness I received from Leon… there was an uneasy feeling. Even though I know Leon loves me very much and he treats me like a princess.
