Chapter 120
That night, after the guests had gone home and the house was quiet again, Leon accompanied me to sit on the balcony. The garde lights were dimly lit, and the wind blew softly, carrying the scent of the jasmine planted in the corner of the courtyard.
His hand reached for my fingers, grasping them tightly.
“Agnes,” his voice was soft, but full of sincerity. “I know our journey may have started with a lot of uncertainty. But one thing is for sure… I want to make you happy.“}
I just stared at him. My heart was pounding. His words were simple, but they felt like a warm hug.}
His hand moved to my stomach. Gently. Carefully.
“I know this child is not my blood, but… she is still your child. And that’s enough for me to love her.”
My eyes began to glaze over. I never thought that someone could accept my past so completely. Unlike my ex–husband, who even accused me of being pregnant by another man, when…
“Thank you,” I said softly. “You have no idea how much this means to me.“}
Leon smiled. “I’m not done yet.”}
He got up from his seat, then thrust his hand at me. “Come along for a while.”
I got up curiously, still in the sheer white satin dress that was my new nightgown that night. Leon led me downstairs, through a dark hallway, then opened the door to a small room that I hadn’t touched since moving in.
As the door opened, my eyes widened.
warm reading room, with soft sofas, tall bookshelves, and small vintage–style paintings hanging on the walls. But the most touching part in the corner of the room, there was an old music box that I used to mention as one of my childhood memories.
“I know you like to read, and you need a quiet place. So… here,” he said with a shrug.”
“I just told you about the music box a week ago…” I whispered.
Leon just smiled. “I heard it. And I remembered. Because everything about you is important to me.”
I couldn’t hold back the tears. For the first time in a long time, I felt unconditionally loved. Leon wasn’t like him. Not like Samuel. Not like
other men who only come to hurt.
That night, inside the small reading room, I sat in Leon’s arms. The music box played softly. And for a moment, I believed that happiness was no longer impossible for me.
A few days after Leon made a reading room for me, I thought that surprise was enough to make me melt. But as it turned out, he still had many ways to make me feel special.}
That morning, I woke up not because of the alarm, but because of the smell of toast and vanilla that filled the room. When I opened my eyes, I saw Leon coming in with a breakfast tray.
“Morning, beautiful mommy,” he said with a mischievous smile.
On the tray, there were two pieces of warm croissant, a cup of hot chocolate, and a small card that read:>
“Today is your day off from stress. Just focus on being happy and eating well.”
I chuckled softly. “You got up early for this?“}
“I looked up how to make croissants that don’t turn out hard like rocks.”
¡ laughed as I covered my face. Honestly, it felt like a dream. Back then, I didn’t even dare to expect to be treated like this.
And as if that wasn’t enough, when I went downstairs to the lunchroom, the table was already decorated with fresh flowers. There were small candles, and plates covered with serving hoods.
“Romantic dinner?” I asked in surprise.
“Late lunch is romantic. Pregnant women get hungry all of a sudden,” Leon replied as he pulled out my chair.

When I opened the serving hood, I gasped. Mini heart–shaped yellow rice, complete with omelette, fried chicken, and shrimp crackers- my favorite childhood dish that I once told him about on a whim at night.”
“You really remember, don’t you?”
“I didn’t just remember. I took notes,” he said, showing me a small note on his phone that turned out to be titled Little things about Agnes‘.
BRIEL 1 BErfty. I already felt And if I’m honest… it feels really
I looked at him for a long time. “Leon… are you seriously trying to fall in love with me?”

I was silent. This heart was warm. Melted. But also afraid. Afraid to expect too
Afraid that it’s all just sweet in the beginning…”
But for that moment, for that day… I decided to believe. That maybe, Leon was indeed different.
I thought the surprise was enough, but Leon never ran out of ways to make me feel loved. He’s not the type of guy who says a lot of sweet nothings, but every single one of his gestures… makes this heart not lie.
That day, I went home from the pregnancy check–up alone because Leon said he was at work. I was a little disappointed, but didn’t want to think anything strange. Until I opened the door and…
“Welcome home, the most powerful mommy in the world,” Leon’s voice suddenly came from the living room.
I stepped inside and immediately fell silent. The room was full of pastel–colored balloons and small streamers. In the center, there was a small table with mini cakes written in cream:

“Welcome to the second trimester, tough mom–to–be!“}
I looked at Leon who was already standing with a sunflower in his hand.
“Leon… you really mean it,” I whispered softly.
He smiled. “I know today is important. You’ve come this far, and I want you to know, you’re not alone.“>
My tears welled up immediately. I was really touched. Not just because of the surprise, but because Leon really pays attention to the things that people sometimes take for granted.}
Later that night, he invited me to sit on the terrace. Just the two of us, accompanied by hot tea and cool air. Leon gently rubbed my growing belly.”
“Agnes,” he said seriously. “I know this is not my biological daughter. But I promise, I will love her… like my own flesh and blood.“}
I took his hand. “You don’t have to say that…”
“I’m not just saying it, but I want to prove it. You and this baby… are precious to me.“}
And for the first time in my life, I truly believed I was enough.”
