Wayne was speechless.
He thought, “What she abandoned?
“This wretched woman!”
“We can have an open marriage, but Keyon is off–limits.”
“Why?”
Wayne thought, “Because Keyon is my good friend. It will disgust me if you two get together.”
Wayne looked Danica up and down. “Do you really think Keyon would be interested in you? Don’t delude yourself. You’re just a country girl who quit school at 16, with no education past high school or a job. Keyon’s standards are way too high for someone like you. He might toy with you for a while, but he’ll grow bored soon.”
Danica was lost for words.
She thought, “He looks down on me.
“Perhaps men are like that–they won’t let others have even what they don’t want.”
Danica smiled calmly, “Did I dance well in the bar tonight?”
Wayne paused in confusion.
Danica pushed him hard away. “I’ll dance for him every day, with a different style each time. I’ll make sure he stays interested in me.”

Danica replied, “Yes.”
