Chapter 16 A Blind Date
What?
Jennifer and Liliana stiffened.
Danica looked at Jennifer and said with feigned surprise, “No way. Didn’t Mr. Hamilton tell you he kissed me last night?”
Danica said earnestly as she recalled, “Last night when Mr. Hamilton kissed me, he was clumsy and rough, no skills at all. His kissing was so terrible, I’m starting to wonder if he even knows how to kiss properly.”
Jennifer looked at Wayne in shock. Did he kiss Danica last night?
Wayne’s handsome face instantly darkened. Whether it was because she intentionally told Jennifer about their kiss or because she mocked his poor kissing skills in front of everyone, he gazed at Danica with piercing icy eyes.
He said sullenly, “Danica!”
Danica sneered. Was he annoyed that she provoked Jennifer?
Danica fixed her bright eyes on Wayne’s handsome face. “Stop
shouting. With kissing skills this terrible, I can’t stand another minute with you. Let’s get a divorce!”
All three people were stunned.
Was Danica out of her mind today?
Wayne’s handsome features hardened into sharp lines. “Fine. Let’s get

Danica got into Wayne’s Rolls–Royce Phantom. She sat in the back seat while Wayne drove in the front, heading toward the courthouse.
The luxurious car was utterly quiet, and neither of them spoke.
Wayne’s large hand, adorned with an expensive wristwatch, gripped the steering wheel. He accelerated, changed lanes, and turned, every movement fluid and precise.
He asked, “Who picked you up last night?”
Last night…
The words jerked Danica’s nerves. “Last night, the man you sent wasn’t my type, so I found someone else.”
She added, “I found an amazing kisser.”
Wayne’s fingers tightened abruptly on the steering wheel. He shot a warning glare at the woman in the backseat through the rearview mirror. “Danica, do you keep bringing up the kiss last night because you can’t stop thinking about it?”
Danica was speechless.
She looked at him defiantly, “It seems you can’t forget the kiss last night.”
Wayne was baffled.
He shouldn’t have asked her about last night.
He deserved it.

The air in the car grew oppressive, thick with tension.
Suddenly, a pleasant phone ringtone broke the silence. Someone was calling Wayne.
The call was made from Hamilton’s mansion.
Wayne answered the phone, and the butler’s voice came through, “Mr. Hamilton, Madam Hamilton doesn’t feel well these days. She misses Mrs. Hamilton and wants to see her. Please bring her home
immediately.”
Wayne frowned. Just as he was driving Danica to get a divorce, his grandmother wanted to see her.
Wayne swerved the car toward Hamilton’s mansion.
Danica quickly protested, “Where are you taking me?”
Wayne said expressionlessly, “Grandma wants to see you. When we’re there, you know what to do, right?”
Danica found it ironic. “Pretend to be in love? I can’t fake it.”
Wayne scoffed, “Wasn’t acting lovey–dovey in front of Grandma your favorite game before?”
Danica’s heart ached. Wayne’s grandmother was in poor health. In the past, Wayne had treated Danica icily at the mansion, and she pretended they were in love.
It had been a one–woman show.
Now he mocked her for it.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the mansion. As Danica walked across the lawn, she bumped into Sophia Hamiltonleaving the mansion.

Sophia, the daughter of the second branch of the Hamilton family, was close friends with Jennifer.
Sophia glared at Danica with disdain at the sight of her. “Danica, Wayne hates you, so you come to suck up to Grandma again? Only she likes you here. Do you even know your place? A country bumpkin who replaced Jenny as the bride while she was away. You’re not worthy of Wayne. Get a divorce.”
Danica was used to it. Same as Wayne’s friends, his family didn’t like
her.
Ignoring Sophia, Danica entered the house.
Her silver hair neatly combed, Emelia joyfully grasped Danica’s hands. “Dani, why haven’t you visited me these days? Didn’t you miss me?”
It was the only warmth Danica received from the Hamilton family.
Emelia adored her a lot.
Danica smiled, gently hugging Emelia and saying sweetly, “Grandma, of course, I missed you.”
Emelia smiled broadly.
At that moment, Wayne’s tall, imposing figure entered the room.
Danica pulled herself away from Emelia. “Grandma, you haven’t had your herbal tonic in days. I’ll make it for you.”
Danica went to the kitchen.
(Wayne sat down beside Emelia. “Grandma.”
Emelia glanced toward the kitchen. “Wayne, did you bicker with Dani?”

Emelia was in poor health, so Wayne didn’t want to upset her. “No.”
“Then why did Dani hide in the kitchen the moment you arrived? She never did that before.
“Wayne, don’t let Jennifer cloud your judgment. Three years ago, when you fell into a coma, she abandoned you and fled overseas. It was Dani who married you and looked after you.
“Those three years devastated me, both physically and emotionally. Dani not only nursed you but also came to look after me, preparing my herbal tonic daily. Without her, our family would have fallen apart.
“I know people, Wayne. Dani is a good girl. She’s devoted to you. Don’t let her down. If you keep failing her, she’ll leave. Once she does, she’ll never return.
“Wayne, Don’t wait until you lose her to regret it.‘

Wayne looked up at Danica in the kitchen. Her black hair was tied in a low ponytail, revealing her delicate face and elegant neck, radiantly beautiful.
The scent of the simmering herbal tonic drifted out, bitter yet fragrant. Wayne recognized it instantly. Danica had fed him the tonic during the past three years.
Although he had been in a vegetative state for three years, his
consciousness remained alert. He knew a woman had been looking
after him.
Her hands, unusually soft, had touched every inch of his body.
He had thought it was Jennifer.
But when he opened his eyes and saw her, she said she was Danica.

Emelia insisted Wayne and Danica stay the night. Neither could refuse.
Wayne entered the bedroom to find Danica sitting with her back to him, scribbling something with a pen.
Her phone played a voice message from her best friend, Florence.
“Dani, since you’re divorcing that man, stop being his maid. Come out now. I’ve set up a blind date for you.”
