Chapter 13 Cure
Danica couldn’t believe her ears. Did Wayne just say he’d find a man or two for her?
He made his choice.
He chose Jennifer without hesitation.
Danica felt like a blade had pierced her heart and churned until it was minced.
With trembling lips, Danica said, “Wayne, I’m still…your wife.”
By this time, Wayne had changed into a black shirt and black suit pants. The passion was gone, and he’d returned to his usual aloof and proud self. He handed something to her and said, “This is
compensation.”
Danica looked. It was a check for 15 million dollars.
He continued in a magnetic and cold voice, “Danica, it’s compensation for you. Let’s get divorced.”
He put the check on the countertop and strode away.
He left for Jennifer.
Her mom had done the same thing many years ago.
Danica’s eyes turned red and moist. Once again, she was abandoned.
She’d tried hard to win the favor of her mom and Wayne, but they gave all their love to Jennifer.

Whatever she did, it proved pointless.
Before long, a man came and said to Kelsey, “Mr. Hamilton sent me. I need to speak with Mrs. Hamilton. Where is she?”
Kelsey said, “In the bedroom. Come with me.”
Kelsey led the man to the bedroom.
Color drained from Danica’s face. It was deathly pale. Wayne was surprisingly efficient. The man he’d found for her was here so soon.
Huh.
How was that for irony?
Footsteps were getting closer.
Shortly after, Kelsey and the man came to the door.
Danica stood up immediately and opened the window. Her bedroom was on the second floor. She jumped out of the window without
hesitation.
When she landed on the lawn, a heart–wrenching pain came from her
ankles.
¡
There was no time to waste. She ignored the pain and called Florence.
Florence answered quickly, “Hello, Dani. Why are you still outside at this late hour? Where are you having fun?”
Hearing her voice, Danica couldn’t stifle the sadness anymore.
Bitter and hot tears gushed out of her eyes.

At 1996 Bar.
Sitting at the counter, her face scarlet with the drug, Jennifer looked even more enticing.
The tall, handsome man was drooling over her. He couldn’t help wrapping his arm around her shoulders and said, “Hottie, it’s been almost 30 minutes. Your boyfriend won’t come. You’ll be mine tonight.”
Looking at the timer on her phone, Jennifer returned, “Hold your horse. There are five seconds to go. He’ll come. Five, four, three, two, one…”
As soon as she finished counting, the weight on her shoulder was gone. Wayne moved the man’s hand away and exerted strength gently.
With a snap, the man’s hand was broken.
Jennifer turned her head and saw Wayne standing there with frost on his shoulders. The other man howled with pain.
Wayne shoved him forcefully.
The latter bumped into the counter and screamed nonstop.
Jennifer got up and took Wayne’s arm. With a bright smile, she remarked, “I told you my boyfriend would be here.”
Between her and Danica, Wayne always chose her.
Danica was no match for her.
Wayne glanced at the man coldly and snapped, “Get lost!”
The man ran away, too afraid to look back.

Wayne looked down at Jennifer and withdrew his arm. “Jennifer, enough with your farce.”
Jennifer stiffened. “Are you mad at me? Can you blame me? If I hadn’t done that, you’d have been in bed with Danica.”
Stone–faced, Wayne returned, “So, you drugged yourself?”
Spoiled by him, Jennifer jutted her chin and said, “Yes. Wayne, if you touch Danica, I’ll let another man touch me!”
With a gloomy face, Wayne turned around.
He walked away just like that.
He didn’t even so much as comfort her.
Eyes were all on this attractive and rich man as soon as he showed up. Women surveyed him and were charmed.
Jennifer was clever. Knowing that Danica and these women all wanted Wayne, she wouldn’t give them a chance.
She put aside her pride, ran to Wayne, and held him from behind. “Wayne, don’t go.”
Wayne stopped.
Holding him tightly, Jennifer played the woman with a pout. “Wayne, sorry. But I did it only because I love you too much. I don’t want you to touch anyone else.”
She rubbed her cheek against his back. “Wayne, I feel dizzy.”
After two seconds of silence, Wayne turned around and carried Jennifer in his arms.

Sensing the envious looks from the women present, Jennifer wrapped her arms around Wayne’s neck and gave a triumphant smile.

Wayne carried Jennifer into Westcourt Villa 30 minutes later. He and Danica lived in Crown Villa. Only he stayed in Westcourt Villa. Its hues were mainly black, white, and grey. The decoration was understated and deluxe. The location was costly.
In the master bedroom, Wayne put Jennifer on the soft bed.
Before he could leave, she wrapped her arms around his neck again and asked, “Wayne, are you still mad at me?”
He tried to pry her hands off.
Just then, Jennifer leaned closer and called softly, “Teddy Bear.”
Wayne froze and remembered Danica, who had called him that, too.
He figured he must’ve misheard.
How could Danica possibly call him Teddy Bear?
Only Jennifer called him by this nickname.
Propping his arms on either side of Jennifer, he said gently, “Don’t do it again.”
She smirked inwardly. She knew he’d soften when she called him Teddy Bear.
Hearing this form of address, he’d forgive her for anything.
Out of the blue, Wayne asked, “Jennifer, why aren’t you wearing the jade pendant I gave you when we were little?”

The jade pendant?
Jennifer looked away nervously. She wasn’t wearing it because…
This wouldn’t do. She must seek an opportunity to get the jade pendant.
“I left it at home.”
Then, she changed the subject. She pulled Wayne closer until their lips were about to touch. The atmosphere became erotic. She said
coquettishly, “Wayne, I was drugged.”
Wayne looked at her lips. “So?”
“You’re my cure.”
With that, she tried to kiss his lips.
