Chapter 22
Camilla tapped furiously on her screen and hit send.
Kieran, still simmering from her earlier jab, read the message
and nearly lost it.
She had backed him into a corner. Still, he made himself call.
Pushing her wouldn’t help, so he had to cool her down.
She picked up, and his voice softened.
“Hey, Camilla, what did that idiot do this time? Just tell me. I’ll
sort it out. Don’t stay mad; it makes people ugly.”
“Don’t. I’m not falling for this. I said everything I needed to on
WhatsApp. You want me to stay in the marriage, get rid of
them. If I break down, you’re all going down with me,” she said
bluntly.
He held back the anger and kept his voice gentle.
“Fine. Just tell me what Edward did this time. Did Aurora upset
you again? If she did, I’m making a move on them.”
“Oh, stop wasting time. Check my messages again and do it

accordingly. I want them gone,” Camilla snorted.
Kieran flinched at her demand. “Look, I’m not breaking the law,
but I’ll push William. The Paxton family has to step in right now. If they don’t sort it out, I’ll push for some compensation for
you. I’ll even try to get you a job at the Paxton Group so you can
kick Edward out yourself. Sounds fair?”
She didn’t respond, her mind racing to figure out what was best
for her.
“For my future, just hold on a bit longer,” he continued.
“Blowing up now won’t help. Let me push them to hand things
over. That way, even if you still want a divorce, you’ll have
leverage.”
She stayed quiet. Kieran took that as a yes and got moving. He
made the call and gave Edward’s family an earful. Then they
had to dial Edward.
Edward, lying flat on the bed, listened as his family tore into
him.
Frustrated, he looked at the doctor. “Dr. Waid, help me get to
Camilla’s room.”
But Jeffrey had to follow Stuart’s orders. “You need rest.
Moving around is bad for your recovery,” he said.
Chapter 22
No one helped Edward. So he started dialing Camilla.
She ignored his calls. The more he tried, the angrier she got.
Then came Edward’s WhatsApp messages.
“Camilla, you’re still mad? I didn’t know you could be this petty. I
already said it’s my fault. Why can’t you let it go? You’re happy
now, with everyone yelling at me?”
“Didn’t expect you to be this vicious. I married you because I
thought you got me. There’s nothing wrong with helping a
single mom and her kid. Why can’t you just stand by me?”
“From now on, my sister can deal with anything to do with
Aurora. I’ve backed off as much as I can. Stop here! And don’t
even think about coming for my company.”
Camilla read every message, her anger rising. Instead of texting
back, she took a screenshot and sent it to Kieran. No words. Just
proof.
Then she closed WhatsApp and opened a game. Edward’s
buddy, Raymond Sutton, was online and instantly tried pulling
her into a match.
She hit “accept” by mistake and tried to back out. He kept
sending invites and ruined the fun.
Chapter 22
Frustrated, she turned on her mic.
“What’s wrong with you? I’ve been trying to leave. You
seriously can’t take a hint?”
“I got the hint. Just wondering why you’re even on here gaming.
You two just got married, right? Shouldn’t you be snuggled up
with him at this hour?” he asked.
“I’m into gaming. Got a problem with that? If you’re dying for gossip, ask your buddy. He’s got all the tea,” she shot back.
