Chapter 21
Edward was moving stiffly, clearly hurting from the beating
last night. He looked angry.
Camilla didn’t let them in; otherwise, Edward would end up
taking the bed.
Standing in the doorway, she said, “You came all this way just to
see me. What now?”
Biting his lip in pain, Edward leaned into Stuart’s arm and
huffed, “Camilla, if you’re mad, take it out on me. But leave
Aurora out of this. She just called me crying. Did you go after
her again?”
Even Stuart couldn’t take it anymore, and his face darkened.
Camilla narrowed her eyes, sizing them up. Her stare was
chilling.
“What’s wrong with you two? You just have to show up at my
door, huh? I’m the one who got screwed over, and you act like
you’re the victim. Spare me the self–righteous crap. I’m not
letting it slide. Show up tomorrow if you’re that mad. We’ll file
for divorce.”
Chapter 21
Edward was as clueless as ever. Camilla was done holding it in.
He looked at her, full of rage, then started to back down under
her stare. But thinking about Aurora’s tears and Elijah’s last
wish pushed him over the edge.
“Camilla, I don’t even recognize you anymore. Elijah’s gone, and
Aurora’s on her own raising their kid. It’s tough. I tried to help,
and you’re overreacting like this. Do you really feel nothing?
You were born with everything. And now you’re going after
someone struggling. That charity work of yours is all for show,
huh?”
His words hurt. Stuart stepped in fast, clearly worried.
“Mrs. Paxton, he’s running a high fever and talking nonsense.
Don’t be mad at him. Let me get him to bed. It’s late, and you
should rest too. Good night.”
He started to pull Edward toward the guest room, but Edward
refused to move.
Camilla crossed her arms, her tone firm. “Edward, I didn’t cause
Elijah’s death. Don’t throw that at me and expect me to help. If
you wanna keep your word and look after his family, fine. But
divorce me first. Once you’re out of my life, I won’t stop you.‘
At this point, she didn’t care about the assets. She just wanted to

be free.
But Edward snapped, “No divorce. I know you’re mad. You want to walk away and tear me down. Not happening. I’d rather keep you stuck than let you make a fool out of me!”
He was being obnoxious. Camilla gave a sharp laugh and shot back, “You don’t get to decide. You’re scared your grandfather’s
bastard heir might take your place. And I’ve got more than
enough ways to help him do it.”
The air crackled with tension. Edward raised his hand to hit her,
but Stuart moved fast, covered his mouth, and dragged him
away.
Furious, Camilla slammed the bedroom door shut. The sound
echoed down the hall.
In the guest room, Edward dropped onto the bed, still fuming.
“Stuart, she’s lost it. You shouldn’t have held me back. She needs
to learn her place in this house.”
Stuart sighed, thinking, “Something’s seriously messing with his
head.” Then he tucked Edward in and left the room.
In the meantime, Camilla sprawled out on the bed, her face pale
with anger. She grabbed her phone and opened WhatsApp, and
started texting Kieran.
Chapter 21
“Edward pissed me off again. Aurora’s still a problem. I’m done.
Either you deal with them, or I’m dragging all of you down with
me.”
Camilla needed to let off some steam, but she wasn’t up for
another fight. What she needed was to push her family to make
a move.
