Chapter 11
When she was having breakfast, Kieran called her.
“Sir Paxton called us. He said Edward was beaten up hard last
night and they’d keep him in check from now on, and their only
request is that you stop proposing a divorce. We’ve talked about
it and agreed. I won’t give Ethan a chance to turn the tables.”
Ethan Lockhart was their uncle. Hearing this, Camilla pulled a
long face and questioned, “Why? Just because they punished
Edward doesn’t mean I gotta take this lying down. Didn’t you
hear me last night? I’d rather be a widow than stay married to
him.”
Kieran retorted, “You know Ethan and his family have been

lurking for an opportunity, and I spend every day worrying
about my position as CEO. Please–for the sake of us, just bear
with it this time. You can’t stand Minnie walking all over you,
can you?”
Minnie Lockhart was Ethan’s daughter. Furious, Camilla
slammed the table and questioned harshly, “You’ve got some
nerve bringing that up! We’re constantly looking over our
shoulders because of your stupid investment! Kieran, why
should I pay for your mess? You jerk!”

Kieran hung up without saying anything, leaving her fuming.
Just then, the security guard strode in and said anxiously, “Mrs.
Paxton, Ms. Collin and her son insist on entering to check on Mr.
Paxton. I can’t stop them. Could you take a look?”
She put down the sandwich, gulped down a glass of milk in one
go, wiped her hands, and walked out with a stern expression.

At the sight of her, Aurora immediately walked over while
taking the hand of Nicholas, who still looked frail.
Aurora said pitifully, her eyes red, “Ms. Lockhart, Edward told
me on the phone that you were upset, so I came here with Nico
to apologize to you. We ruined your wedding night, and I’m so
sorry.””
Saying this, she pressed on Nicholas‘ head, forcing him to
apologize to Camilla, too.
Camilla, however, was even more pissed off. She thought, “Oh,
really, Aurora? You knew you ruined our wedding night? You
knew you shouldn’t have called him away last night?”
Over the years, she had come to realize that Aurora was
essentially an angelic bitch. But she chose to overlook it because
she loved Edward so much.

But not anymore. She was in a foul mood today and wanted to
throw caution to the wind.
She said with a sneer, “You knew it was wrong, but you did it
anyway, making me the butt of the joke last night. And, here
you are today, rubbing it in my face. I bet you’re loving this,
aren’t you?”
Sensing the mockery in Camilla’s tone, Aurora lowered her
head.
She said humbly, “You got me wrong, Ms. Lockhart. Nico was
sick last night, and I didn’t know who to turn to because I’m just
a widow. Edward is the only person who could help us. Nico,
Edward and Ms. Lockhart fought because of you last night.
Apologize to her and ask for her forgiveness.”
Having just finished an IV drip, Nicholas was still weak. Being
yanked hard, he staggered and almost fell to the ground in front
of Camilla.
Meanwhile, Aurora continued, “Ms. Lockhart, it was our fault
yesterday. We’re truly sorry. Over the years, I’ve been telling
Nico to keep your kindness in mind and to repay you when he
grows up. You’re so nice, and I’m sure you won’t hold a grudge,
right?”
Nicholas said to Camilla timidly, “I’m really sorry. We were
wrong. Please don’t get mad at Edward. If yo
beat me up. I just don’t want you to stay mad at Edward.”
