Chapter 14
The chaos finally came to a temporary halt with Crystal fainting.
After a night of rescue, Crystal survived, but the baby in her belly did. not make it.
“Bang!”
Evelyn slapped Brenton hard across the face and exclaimed, “You are just being foolish!”
If Brenton had just endured a little longer, if he had waited a few more months, Crystal would have given birth to their child and could have left something for the Anderson family.
But he chose to explode the secret on that day, not only causing the Anderson family to lose their grandson, but also making the Anderson family lose face.
The whole of Chicago now knows that the youngest son of the
Anderson family pretended to be his older brother and slept with the
widow!
Now, no one from the Dalton family is bothering them anymore, and Leanna has cut ties with the Anderson family.
And because the matter had escalated so much, even Brenton’s own position was revoked.
Losing so much in a row, how could Evelyn not be angry!
She immediately raised her hand to slap again.
Chapter 14
Brenton was like a soulless puppet, no matter how much Evelyn hit or scolded him, it was useless.
Finally, the nurse inside came out to stop them and asked if the patient inside had woken up, who went in to see Crystal.
Brenton finally came to his senses and said in a hoarse voice, “Tll go
in.”
After all, Crystal was also unaware of this matter, so he owed her, and he would try his best to make it up to her.
Thinking of this, he ignored Evelyn’s shouting behind him and pushed open the door to Crystal’s hospital room.
The moment the door was closed, the noisy voices outside were also
shut out.
Brenton looked up at the hospital bed and immediately saw the woman with a pale face and hollow eyes.
He clenched his hands, lifted his feet and walked towards Crystal, then.
sat down beside her sickbed.
“I’m sorry for what happened, you can ask for any compensation you
want.”
Compensation?
After a long time, Crystal lying on the sickbed finally reacted. She slowly turned her head to look at him, seeing this man with bloodshot eyes, stubble on his chin, and a look of despair. His eyes were filled with complex emotions.
How could he compensate himself?
Chapter 14
She longed day and night for her husband to return, and they spent. their days and nights in love. Finally, she joyfully conceived a child that carried the blood of both of them.
Everything was so beautiful, but he suddenly shattered her beautiful dream, telling her that it was all to spare her the pain of losing a husband, and to encourage her to continue living and striving with the children, all based on a carefully crafted lie.
Now that the lies have been exposed, her husband is gone, her children are gone, and her reputation is gone.
Now she has nothing, how can he compensate her.
Crystal’s fingers, clutching the blanket, turned white at the knuckles, and the sound squeezed out of her throat was like it had been rubbed with sandpaper.
“Brenton, what you should have done was not to compensate me, but to not shatter this lie.”
So that she could continue to indulge in beautiful dreams, to live on, instead of suffering heart–wrenching pain time and time again.
Brenton closed his eyes and his voice sounded even weaker: “You,
me…”
All the words I wanted to say seemed pale at this moment.
The wall clock on the wall ticked quietly, and in the ward, only the sound of two people breathing could be heard.
After some time had passed, Crystal finally spoke again: “Is any compensation possible?”
Brenton nodded and said, “Yes.”
This time, Crystal finally smiled, but this time her smile didn’t reach
her eyes.
“Alright, I wanted you to marry me!”
“Bang!”
Brenton sprang up from the chair with a start: “No way!”
The only person he liked was Leanna, and he only considered her ast his wife. He would never marry anyone else!
“This is ridiculous, please change it.”
“Absurd?”
Crystal suddenly laughed, her voice filled with sarcasm, “Do you think this is ridiculous?”
“Why didn’t you think it was ridiculous when you pretended to be your brother and slept with me to have a child? Do you know that because of you, my reputation has been completely ruined, and I can never get married again! How am I supposed to live in the future?”
“I told you, Brenton, you could only, and must, marry me in this lifetime!”
