Chapter 215
Talia said indignantly, “That maid did it on purpose!” She had never been mocked by a servant before.
Jocelyn smiled and said, “This is 4.1
You mustn’t lose your composure.”
At that moment, the lights on the second floor came on. Talia took a few steps back and saw the newly drawn curtains and the two people embracing
behind them.
“Let’s go. Anyway, you don’t really like him,” Jocelyn turned and walked back.
Talia watched the two figures disappear from the window before turning around. Although she didn’t like Yann, she wouldn’t allow Audrey to look down
on her. “You said Paul is interested in her, right?” 2
Jocelyn looked at Talia in surprise. “Come on, Yanh won’t allow Paul to pursue Audrey.”
“So what? At least this can create a rift between Audrey and Yann,” Talia quickened her pace. “Let’s hide Audrey’s identity first and give Paul some hope.
Jocelyn snorted and followed her. “Instead of hoping Paul can do something, you might as well motivate Clayton.”
The Clayton they placed high hopes on was studying legal provisions in the study. Materials for Jacob’s case were spread across the table. He rubbed his eyes and continued searching for references in past cases.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his stomach, so intense that cold sweat broke out on his face and his fingers trembled.
Clayton tremblingly picked up the water glass beside him, only to find it empty. He could only press his stomach tightly, waiting for the spasm to pass, then he leaned weakly against the chair.
After a long while, he could finally get up. He turned the reference book face down on the table and went out to cook something to eat.
He had been busy all day. Now, his neck was stiff, and his stomach was growling.
As he made instant noodles, Clayton couldn’t help but think of Audrey again. When they were still married, no matter how late he worked, Audrey would prepare a nourishing meal for him. Now, there was only leftover spaghetti in the pot that was stuck together.
He smiled bitterly and shook his head, then accidentally glanced at a small figure at the door. “Why aren’t you asleep?” he asked.
Luna just looked at him silently.
Clayton squatted down in front of her and asked, “Are you also hungry?”
Luna shook her head but kept staring at Clayton’s instant noodles.
Clayton divided the noodles into two portions and sat with Luna in front of the coffee table to eat.
He didn’t know what was wrong with him. Maybe he had been too depressed for too long and couldn’t talk to anyone, so he actually started complaining to a child in the middle of the night.
He said, “I haven’t eaten instant noodles in over a year. Audrey said they have no nutrition and are bad for my stomach because of my gastritis.
“She liked to make me nourishing foods. At first, I couldn’t get used to them and always thought they had a strange taste. When she sent them to the law firm, I would always share them with other colleagues.
“Although those things tasted bad, thanks to Audrey, my gastritis really didn’t flare up again. Now I suddenly want to eat her cooking again. Am I crazy?”
“Mrs. Patel,” said Luna.
Clayton stopped eating and suddenly looked at her. The instant noodles even fell from his mouth. He stared at Luna in disbelief.

Chapter 215
Luna just spoke.
Although doctors had diagnosed Luna as not autistic, she had never spoken before.
“What did you say?” Clayton feared he had misheard.
“Mrs. Patel,” Luna repeated. “You miss her, and so dol.”
Clayton suddenly felt like crying. He put down the plastic fork, took Luna’s hand, and said in surprise, “Can you talk now?”
“Uncle Carson always praises me.” Luna didn’t understand what encouraging education was; she only knew Carson was good to her. No matter how she built with blocks, Carson would praise her.
She was praised for helping Carson fetch things and for being quiet when he rested. In short, everything she did was right. Even if she accidentally knocked something over, she was first asked if she was hurt, not scolded as a retard.
Clayton’s tears welled up instantly. He covered his face to hide his embarrassment from the child. He had previously mocked Carson for taking Luna in to get Audrey’s attention. Now it seemed that although Carson had other motives, he was truly good to Luna.
Carson, a stranger to Luna, could be so kind to her, while Clayton, her nominal father, had never truly paid attention to her emotions.
“I’m sorry…” Clayton kept apologizing, not sure if it was to Luna, himself, or Audrey. He had messed up his life.
Luna hugged him with her soft little hands and said to Clayton, “Mrs. Patel is very good.”
“I know, I know,” Clayton said with tears and hugged Luna.
Just then, the door to the guest room opened. Cheryl was woken up and said impatiently, “Why are you crying in the middle of the night?”
Clayton quickly stopped crying and wiped away his tears.
Cheryl walked past him to the bathroom, saw Luna, and asked her, “Didn’t you have some spaghetti for dinner? Are you hungry again?”
Luna didn’t speak and just leaned against Clayton’s arms.
Clayton picked Luna up and sat her on his lap, saying, “Children get hungry easily. They need nutrition to grow up.”
Cheryl didn’t say anything and went back to sleep after using the toilet. In her view, Clayton was being nice to Luna because he cared about Valerie,
After finishing the instant noodles, Clayton took Luna to the study. “When I turn things around, I’ll bring Mrs. Patel back. Okay?” he asked.
Luna nodded and obediently fell asleep on the sofa.
Thanks to some key legal provisions Clayton found, the first–instance judgment was rejected, and Jacob’s case went to a second trial a week later.
Although the result angered the public prosecution, judiciary, and netizens, Timmy was very happy.
He hosted Clayton at The Grand Table. “You’re really capable. It’s a pity you were set up and had your lawyer’s license revoked. Otherwise, you’d definitely be a legend in the legal world,” he said, giving Clayton a thumbs–up.
Clayton looked indifferent and just nodded faintly/
“There’s an assistant manager position vacant in my team. You can start anytime,” Timmy arranged a trivial position for Clayton as promised.
Clayton didn’t thank him but brought up another matter. “T&J Transport has monopolized several routes at the port, including some collaborations with Stride Commerce, right?”
Timmy raised an eyebrow and tilted his head to study Clayton. This transportation route was semi–monopolized and somewhat illegal. Clayton’s knowledge of it didn’t surprise him, but the mention of cooperation with Stride Commerce did.
Chapter 215
Paul used to be in the mafia but had whitewashed his business. Timmy didn’t want to confront Paul unless necessary.
Ignoring Timmy’s increasingly gloomy expression, Clayton poured himself a cup of coffee, took a sip, and said slowly, “I want to be in charge of Stride Commerce’s transportation route.”
