Chapter 206
Jade rubbed her temples. “Do you want a divorce?”
“What do you mean?” Valerie shot back, confused.

“If you don’t want a divorce, then what’s the point of suing him? And your condition…” Jade hesitated slightly before continuing, “It must be costing you quite a bit in medical bills, right?”
Valerie looked down, her face twisted with bitterness and anger.
Clayton was the first man who had ever dared to manipulate her. He had tricked her into losing her child. What else would he do? Maybe even worse, if she kept going like this, there would be no winner.
But if she gave up and let him get his way with the divorce, she wouldn’t gain anything either, only end up in debt.
“What should I do?” Valerie crumpled, sobbing into her hands.
Jade’s fingers drummed on Valerie’s knee. When Valerie stopped crying, Jade spoke, “Clayton’s only asset left is that house. I know a broker who can fast–track the sale.”
“Without involving Clayton?” Valerie wiped her tears, eyes lighting up. But just as quickly, they dulled. “But where would I live?”
The old home had already been sold when Cheryl took Valerie to stay with her uncle. They didn’t even have a place to call their own in Ironhaven.
Jade leaned in, whispering, “Someone in Ashbourne promised you housing assistance, right? Now that public opinion online is turning against Clayton, he’ll probably have no choice but to give in under pressure.”
Valerie’s expression slowly relaxed. A spark of hope returned to her eyes.
Audrey went to see Steven to pick up medicine. She glanced around before whispering, “What exactly did you prescribe Yann last time?”
“Something to clear internal heat,” Steven replied without looking up, scribbling notes in the pharmacy, writing only he and his assistant could read.
Hearing Audrey’s scoff, Steven teased, “Excessive internal heat can lead to deficiency, causing insomnia, irritability, and mood swings. In more serious cases, it might even result in erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.”
Audrey choked on her saliva and quickly waved him off.
Whether Yann had trouble sleeping or not, she wasn’t sure. She always fell asleep before he did.
As for premature ejaculation… If what Yann did counted as fast, then Audrey seriously doubted men’s limits.
Steven glanced at her over through his glasses, barely hiding a smile. He finished writing and handed the note to his assistant.
“What about me?” Audrey finally asked after regaining her composure, her face still slightly flushed. “Do I have any issues?”
“You’ve got muscle fatigue, always feeling sluggish. You’d rather lie down than sit up, and the more you rest, the sleepier you get.” Steven took off his glasses and set them aside. “You should exercise more.”
Audrey glanced at him. She thought, ‘Is this guy even a real doctor? My sore limbs were worn out by Yann. Exercise more? It might kill Yann.‘
“I meant jogging.” Steven deadpanned. “Not whatever you’re picturing.” He got up to pour himself a cup of coffee, shaking his head slightly.
“I wasn’t thinking anything,” Audrey pouted.

“Oh? Then why are your ears scarlet?” Steven blew his coffee and sipped it. Then, he added with a knowing look, “Practice some restraint, or you…”
Audrey stood up abruptly and headed for the door. Just before stepping out, she heard Steven mutter, “You might end up pregnant,”
She tripped on the spot, nearly falling flat on her face.

“Did you make an appointment? If I not, you’ll need to book one in advance. Dr. Lewis only sees a limited number of patients each day,” the assistant politely reminded.
The man said, “No. I came here because I’ve heard a lot about Dr. Lewis. I hope he can take a quick look at me. If he can treat me, I’ll go home and prepare right away.”
Audrey recognized the voice immediately. She looked over and saw Clayton. She quickly ducked back inside.
Steven saw her and grinned. “Don’t tell me you’re here for fertility potions. I don’t dabble in illegal.”
Audrey waved him over. “Just squeeze that man in. Give him a quick checkup.”
Steven lifted the edge of the curtain and peeked out. “Rules are rules.”
“Not to treat him,” Audrey whispered with a mischievous grin. “I just want to see him suffer a little.”
Clayton had wrapped himself up tightly probably because he had no other choice. Audrey was curious about what illness he could possibly have.
Steven sighed but didn’t refuse.
Audrey slipped into the inner room, and Steven pulled the curtain aside and stepped out. “What’s going on?”
The assistant replied, “This man didn’t make an appointment.”
Steven checked the clock. “Next patient is in 30 minutes. Might as well take a look.”
“Thank you, Dr. Lewis.” Clayton quickly followed Steven inside and pulled out his test results, explaining why he came.
Audrey, hiding in the adjacent room, almost burst into laughter.
Clayton had missed the best time for treatment, yet he blamed Carson for not steadying him when he fell, claiming that was what caused his injury.
He was the one who had pursued Valerie, but now that his marriage was failing and his family was in chaos, he blamed her for being greedy and fake.
People like him always shifted the blame onto others whenever something went wrong. They never looked inward.
“Your condition…” Steven, only in his forties, stroked his nonexistent beard, playing the wise elder. “If left untreated, it won’t just affect your fertility. It’ll also lead to erectile dysfunction.”
Clayton flinched at a noise from the inner room, looking slightly uneasy. He thought, ‘No wonder I never wanted.
“So, is there still time to treat it?” Clayton asked anxiously.
“It depends.” Steven handed back the reporter and began examining him further.
The silence stretched, and Clayton’s heart lodged in his throat.
Finally, he dared to whisper, “Is there… any hope?”
- It was the disease.”
Steven unfolded a gleaming needle case, silver rows twinkling under the lights. “With acupuncture, there’s about a 50% chance.”

Clayton’s thighs slammed together, phantom pain shooting up his groin. But for a shot at redeeming his manhood, he could endure anything,
“Alright, I’ll book the sessions right away,” Clayton said, hurriedly heading for the door.
Audrey was just about to step out when he suddenly turned back. She quickly retreated again.
“Dr. Lewis,” Clayton asked, “one more thing. Roughly how much will this cost?”
Steven stood in front of the slightly swaying curtain and answered with a straight face, “It depends on the course of treatment. Prepare around 40 thousand dollars first.”
Clayton tightened his fists, pressed his lips together, and walked out with grim determination.
Once Steven was sure Clayton had left, he said, “Come out.”
Audrey emerged and eyed the needles, touching the tip of her nose. “Can you fix him? Or is this payback?”
Steven gave her a strange look.
She snorted, “Please. Do you think I know nothing? With your relationship with Yann, you knew exactly who that man was.”
