Chapter 201
“Hello?” Clayton answered the call.
“Clayton, your ex–wife is full of surprises. She’s not just screwing Paul. She owns his company now.”
“Who is this?”
Serena ignored him. “Audrey is Stride Commerce’s majority shareholder. That investment money could be marital assets. You’re a lawyer. You must know how to get it back. Don’t make me underestimate you,”
“Stride Commerce’s majority shareholder?” Clayton’s grip tightened on the phone.
He knew exactly how meticulously their finances had been split. Audrey had barely spent his money, just basics like groceries and his suits. No way she had poured personal funds into Stride Commerce.

Clayton knew exactly how much money Audrey had. When he took on Malcolm’s case, he had checked Audrey’s assets thoroughly. She owned a house and a car, but they were transferred to her name after the divorce.
Her speed of earning impressed Clayton, but he was certain she wouldn’t have sunk all her savings into Stride Commerce.
“You’re not messing with me?” Clayton asked.
“There is a celebration dinner at The Grand Table tonight. Come and see yourself. If that cash is half yours, congrats, you’re a shareholder, too. Stride Commerce’s Series A just closed. It has huge potential. With that, Serena hung up.
Serena smirked smugly, thinking, ‘Audrey thinks she’s won? Clayton will wreck her. If he could claw back even a little part of it, Paul would regain
control.
After days of gloom, Clayton felt a glimmer of hope.
He thought in excitement, ‘If Audrey is Stride Commerce’s majority shareholder, I’ll beg for reconciliation. With her money and connections, my comeback would be unstoppable.
‘Mom, Dad, dear brother, you don’t believe in me. I’ll show you all that the woman I chose, Audrey, is the best decision I ever made.’
Clayton struggled to suppress a grin as he rummaged for clean clothes.
Valerie noticed his sudden mood shift. “Who called?”
“A Stride Commerce shareholder consulted my expertise,” Clayton snapped, masking his excitement.
“Your license is revoked,” she sneered.
“I can’t litigate, but my experience still pays for advice.” Clayton paused, clearly annoyed. He ironed a crisp shirt and even shaved before heading out.
Valerie’s suspicion flared. She quickly walked over to the kitchen door. “Mom, I’m heading out.”
Cheryl, still plotting how to dose Clayton into a marrow donor, waved her off absently.
Valerie changed quickly, pulling her hair back into a ponytail as she sprinted outside.
In the car, Clayton pulled out his phone and opened the navigation app to locate The Grand Table.
By the time he drove away, Valerie had already chased after him. She flagged down a passing taxi. “Follow that car ahead. Don’t tail too closely.
