Chapter 160
Chapter 160
There were only two reasons for Yann’s chapped and broken lips. First, he was beaten; second, he was bittery
Given his status, few would dare to hit him, leaving only one possibility—he had accidentally bitten his lip while kissing Calvin just now. Baldwin and Nash looked at each other, seeing the shock and sudden realization in each other’s expressions.
Rumors had long circulated that Yann was gay, with some claiming his sudden investment in Ironhaven was all for Calvin. This gossip paled in comparison to the shock of witnessing it firsthand.
When Calvin saw them, he whispered something to Yann. When Yann looked up at them, the warmth in his eyes instantly turned to coldness.
“Mr. Winifred, I’m Nash Grant from the Construction Bureau,” Nash greeted warmly, stepping forward. “Baldwin happened to be dining here and has always admired you, so I brought him to meet you.”
“Mr. Winifred, I’m Baldwin from Baldwin Biotechnology,” Baldwin said with a wide smile, offering a handshake. “Our company’s products are mainly
used in medical aesthetics and health supplements”
Yann did not shake his hand but coldly sized him up. His height and powerful aura created a strong sense of oppression for Baldwin.
Baldwin awkwardly paused, then quickly took out a business card and handed it to Calvin.
Only after Yann nodded did Calvin reach out to accept the card. Yann said, “I heard Zephyr Prime nearly delayed its departure due to Baldwin Biotechnology’s goods.”
A cold sweat instantly broke out on Baldwin’s back. He had not expected such a trivial matter to reach Yann. If Yann concluded that Baldwin Biotechnology was unprofessional and unreliable, Baldwin would be completely excluded from the East District Ironhaven Medical Center project.
Baldwin immediately hunched over, adopting the most submissive posture. “There was a minor accident, but the ship departed on time. Baldwin Biotechnology values integrity. If you need anything, just say the word, and I will do my utmost.”
Yann gently rubbed his two fingers, which had a trace of lipstick on them. He said in a cold, slow tone, “Hold the person in charge accountable. A delayed departure causes only financial losses, but a quality flaw would be a huge problem.”
It was a thoroughly official statement. Nash felt Yann was more like his superior than a businessman. Though Yann did not elaborate, Nash could tell he was dissatisfied with Baldwin Biotechnology’s handling of the goods issue.
“Mr. Winifred is right,” Nash said to Baldwin. “When you return, you must investigate thoroughly, deal with the responsible person, and ensure no similar
issues occur.”
“Yes, I will carry out a thorough investigation,” Baldwin replied.
Miguel also wanted to engage Yann, but before he could speak, the people in the private room heard Yann’s voice and opened the door to welcome him.
Nash followed Yann into the room and gave Baldwin a meaningful look.
The two returned to the third floor and stood in a ventilated area smoking instead of going straight back to their private room.
“Find someone to check if Mr. Jenkins‘ goods were on the Zephyr Prime,” Baldwin said, taking a deep drag on his cigarette.
With the recent busy government scheduling meetings, Yann should not have noticed the reason for a cargo ship’s delayed departure. Baldwin was certain someone had deliberately mentioned it to Yann.
He again recalled the image of Calvin and Yang ascending the stairs together. Calvin was burly, and without Yann’s obvious indulgence, outsiders would have taken him for a personal bodyguard.
Audrey emerged from the restroom and saw their serious expressions. She nodded as a greeting and tried to leave quickly.

“Ms. Henderson,” Baldwin called out to her. “Were you nearby just now?”
Audrey thought for a moment and nodded. “I came out for some air.”
“Did you see… Never mind,” Baldwin said. If Yann and Calvin were indeed lovers, they would not easily let others see their intimate moments. He had merely thought of Yann coming up from downstairs and instinctively wanted to ask if Audrey had encountered him.
Miguel hung up the phone and walked over, speaking directly in front of Audrey, “I checked. There were no goods from Mr. Jenkins on the ship.
“That’s strange,” Baldwin said.
“Maybe he held shares under another identity?” Miguel suggested. “I asked them to send the cargo owner’s information to my email. I’ll verify it again later.”
Baldwin nodded and turned to Audrey. “In future collaborations between Baldwin Biotechnology and Stride Commerce, Ms. Henderson needs to be more careful. This incident nearly caused serious negative impacts.”
“Thank you for your appreciation,” Audrey said. “I will ensure strict procedures, and I also hope you can strictly control product quality.” Baldwin stared at Audrey, feeling her tone sounded familiar.
Audrey felt slightly guilty. She had been messing with Yann earlier, and her lipstick had been smudged off. She feared her hasty touch–up might be flawed.
Noticing Audrey’s ears turning red, Baldwin suddenly realized it was inappropriate to stare so directly at a woman and quickly looked away.
“Come on, let’s go back,” he said to Miguel.
Just as the three turned around, they heard Serena’s angry voice and loud pounding on a door in the distance. “Edana! I trusted you and brought you here. How dare you steal my man? Open the door, do you hear me? I’ll break in!”
Before Baldwin could ask, embarrassing sounds came from inside the room. Each floor had guest rooms for intoxicated guests. The soundproofing was poor, and with the people inside being unreserved, those outside quickly understood what was happening.
Miguel cleared his throat and said, “Ms. Edana Conan might be drunk. Let’s return to the private room first.”
“Yeah, let’s just go back,” Baldwin agreed, but just then, a man’s dissatisfied shout and the sound of a slap came from the room.
Serena was about to leave but turned back to knock again, her eyes red with anger. “Paul! Edana is my cousin. Can you stop acting like a jerk?”
“What’s wrong?” Paul’s voice suddenly came from behind Audrey. Everyone turned to look.

Paul had booked a room to take a cold shower and relieve the aphrodisiac’s effects. He ran a hand through
“Why are you here?” Serena was stoned.
Paul sneered, first glancing at Audrey nearest to him, then at Serena. “Where do you think I should be?”
ir, the roots still damp.
Another cry–whether of pain or pleasure–came from the room. Serena sensed something was wrong and suddenly widened her eyes in shock.
She glared fiercely at Audrey, then began pounding the door again. “Edana! Edana!” She turned to Paul and pleaded, “Call a waiter to open the door! Edana is being assaulted!”
Paul’s cynical gaze grew colder. He turned and called for a waiter.
The moment the door opened, Serena covered her face and screamed, rushing into the room. “Fuck off! Get your dirty hands off her! Edana? Edana!” Audrey craned her neck, curious to see the scene inside. As soon as she peeked in, Paul blocked her view. “Don’t look. It’ll dirty your eyes,” he said.
