Chapter 135
Chapter 135
Before Audrey could figure out what he meant, Yann pulled her into the car. He seemed really rushed, telling Calvin to drive Ivan home while he took cl for the Royal House
Audrey said, “Did you mess with Ivan or something? He’s acting so–Ahl”
The second they walked through the door, Audrey found herself pinned against it. Yann pressed into her like a wall of muscle, finding her lips and kissing her like he was starving.
“What’s gotten into you?” Audrey murmured.
The moment she opened her mouth, Yann took full advantage. “You said when no one’s around, we could do it.
Yann was probably actually starving for this. If eating people wasn’t illegal, he would’ve devoured her whole.
Just as things were about to spital out of control, Audrey bit down hard and finally managed to breathe normally. “Your wallet’s digging into me,” she complained.
Yann free for a second, then let out a low chuckle. “Don’t move. Let me hold you a little longer” He reached into his pocket and adjusted his “wallet.”
While Royal House was all cozy and sweet, Clayton dragged himself through his front door completely exhausted.
Ever since Cheryl stopped doing his laundry and cooking, she’d also quit cleaning. Now, she spent all day gambling across from their neighborhood.
The shelf by the entrance was covered in dust, and Clayton didn’t even have drinking water in the house.
“Clayton, look at this! Do you think it’s pretty? Valerie came out of the bedroom and spun around in front of him. She’d seen Audrey wearing something gorgeous and found out it was from some high–end brand, so she bought herself something similar.
Clayton walked over to the water dispenser and stared at the empty jug without saying a word. He turned around, his expression cold. “Why didn’t you order more water?“”
“Oh, I was actually gonna tell you about that. I went to see Mom and she agreed to give us all that money you left with her before.” Valerie was halfway through when she noticed the bruise on Clayton’s lip. “What happened to your mouth?”
Clayton pushed her hand away when she reached for him, his voice angry. “Who said you could go ask for money?”
“You don’t give me any living expenses and I don’t have money. How are we supposed to buy food and stuff for the house?
“My mom came here to enjoy life, not to be our maid. We can’t expect her to keep taking care of us forever.” As Valerie spoke, her eyes welled up with
She grabbed Clayton’s hand, looking hurt, “Clayton, I’m doing this for your own good. If you want your law firm back up and running, you need connections, right? That means gifts and favors. The money I spent was yours anyway. Why can’t I use it on you?”
Clayton stepped back and stared at her dress in disbelief. “You just bought that.”
“Yeah.” Valerie’s smile died when she saw the sarcasm in his eyes. “What’s that supposed to mean? I marry you and I can’t even buy myself a decent
dress?”
Clayton let out a cold laugh and started ordering some drinking water.
Valerie followed him, complaining nonstop, “Audrey left you and she’s living better than ever. I married you and dealt with all kinds of pressure. You have no idea what I went through.
“Do you want me walking around looking cheap so people can laugh at me? The woman who stole someone’s husband but can’t even dress as well some small–town orphan?”

“Shut up.” Clayton’s voice was sharp with irritation.
“You’re yelling at me?” Valerie clutched her chest dramatically. “You used to defend me no matter what happened. Now that you’re divorced, you’re suddenly protecting Audrey instead. Are you thinking about getting back together with her?”
Clayton felt exhausted physically and emotionally. He took a deep breath and grabbed a glass to fill with tap water. The less he responded, the angrier Valerie got.
She grabbed his hand and shook it. “I went to see Mom at the hospital today and ran into Audrey having dinner with Carson. They’ve been hooking up behind your back this whole time. Your best friend totally screwed you over.”
Clayton dropped the water glass and it shattered. Water hit the electrical cord nearby and sparked out instantly. He stated at Valerie with cold eyes.
Valerie stumbled backward, stammering, Tm telling you the truth.”
“The truth? Then tell me the truth about this. Is Luna actually Lucas‘ daughter or not?”
Panic flashed across Valerie’s face and she couldn’t hide it. Her eyes darted around frantically. “My daughter is Lucas‘ daughter, and now she’s your daughter,”
Clayton let out a harsh laugh. He grabbed a dish towel and started wiping down the counter, then slammed the broken glass pieces to one side. After cleaning up the mess, he threw the towel in the trash and kicked the whole bin over
Clayton was like a machine that had lost control, kicking the cabinet doors over and over.
Valerie freaked out and covered her ears, screaming, “Clayton, stop it! Those people online are just making stuff up. They’re jealous of me. Jealous that a divorced woman like me could marry such an amazing guy like you!”
Clayton whipped around, his eyes bloodshot as he stared Valerie down. “People online talk trash, but Lucas wouldn’t lie about this stuff”
Valerie stumbled back two steps and hit the cabinet, her whole body shaking. “You saw Lucas?”
ot this? Lucas did it.”
Clayton let but a bitter laugh and pointed to the bruise on his mouth. “You asked how I got
He stepped closer and held up his middle finger–clearly broken multiple times and never healed right. “He broke this too.” Then, he had his shirt, showing the massive bruise where his ribs had cracked. “And this.”
With each thing Clayton showed her, Valerie’s body shook harder. All the color drained from her face. Finally, she broke down crying
“Lucas is an animal,” Valerie screamed. “He did the same things to me. He hated Luna and forced me to have another baby. Did you call the cops? They need to arrest him and throw him in jail,”
The veins in Clayton’s temples bulged as he grabbed Valerie’s arm and yanked her close. Their foreheads were almost touching when he ground out through clenched teeth, “He wanted you to have another kid that’s what you call abuse?”
Valene’s crying stopped dead. Tears were still hanging in her eyes, but her expression went completely blank and weird. “What else did he tell you?”
Clayton shoved her away hard.
Valerie couldn’t keep her balance and stumbled backward onto the couch. But she only caught half of it, lost her balance completely, and crashed to the floor, Her head smacked against the coffee table with a loud thud.
The sound got drowned out by Clayton slamming the door behind him.
Cheryl let out a shriek and rushed over. “Clayton! How dare you lay a hand on my daughter! I’m calling the cops.”
She pulled Valerie into her arms and carefully checked her forehead for cuts. “No bleeding, but you might have internal injuries. We need to get you to the hospital for X–rays.”
