Chapter 118
Chapter 118
Cecilia brushed crumbs off her hand, picked up her thermos, and drank a victorious sip of coffee. She smiled brightly at Amelia, “Not only do i have a daughter–in–law, but a grandson too.”
Amelia’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t believe she lost this badly.
“Did you do a paternity test? There was news recently about a guy whose three kids weren’t his. Your ‘run away with a baby‘ routine has an even lower chance of having a real grandson.”
Cecilia’s expression changed, gripping her thermos tight, but didn’t answer.
Just then, the secretary knocked and came in. “Ms. Hale, Audrey from Stride Commerce is here.”
Amelia stood up and returned the photo to Madam Bai, still grinning smugly. “When my son gets married, remember to prepare a generous gift. I’ll let you go earn your money—I know I make more than you anyway.”
Cecilia didn’t back down. “Marrying just to cover up your son’s orientation is morally corrupt.”
“If rumors were true, your son changes women like clothes, and you’d have tons of grandkids. Maybe your son just can’t ejaculate?”
“None of his exes said he couldn’t perform. He’s good with both men and women!”
These two women in their thirties, both strong and successful, argued like kindergartners.
As soon as they left the office, the two of them instantly switched back to their refined personas. One smiled with admiration, the other nodded with mutual respect.
The secretary following them was surprised that their boss got such a fast mood shift! “Audrey, this way please.” The secretary led toward where Audrey
was.
Amelia glanced casually, then looked again, her eyes filled with surprise and pride. “Audrey!” She changed direction and walked toward Audrey
Audrey and Tiffany stood up holding the documents, both surprised. “Amelia, what are you doing here?”
“I’m here to show off… I mean, to talk business,” Amelia looked at Cecilia, raised her eyebrows and winked. ‘This is my future daughter–in–law! Pretty, right? Jealous?‘
Cecilia understood but pretended not to.
“You know Audrey too? What a coincidence!” She thought, ‘Such a distant attitude, calling her a daughter law? Probably hasn’t caught her yet.”
Cecilia remembered last time she drank happily and didn’t notice Audrey’s little red mole at the eye’s corner. Now she saw it and thought of that legend, smiling mysteriously.
Audrey was pretty, and her look had a stubborn toughness. A fascinating person.
“Audrey, come to my office to talk,” Cecilia said to Amelia. “Amelia, take care. I won’t see you out.”
Amelia felt Cecilia’s look was off, definitely with bad intentions. She couldn’t let her ruin her son’s happiness. If this failed, then no chance for love at all.
“My foot hurts suddenly. I’ll sit in your office a bit. You talk. I won’t disturb,” Amelia said, turning and heading to the office.
Audrey felt a hidden tension between Amelia and Cecilia, their looks sharp like swords but not mortal enemies.
Tiffany noticed the subtle change too and whispered to Audrey, “Can we still talk today?”
Audrey wasn’t sure. “Let’s try.”

Chapter 118
Amelia kept her word–they sat far apart while negotiating, silent the whole time, quietly messaging her son.
Cecilia had a good impression of Audrey. Knowing her complicated relationship with Amelia, she saw her in a new light.
But good relations aside, business was business. Cecilia didn’t do losing deals. Might as well take the chance to make some extra cash for the gift money.
“Audrey, Luther and Mr. Gibson are in charge of the hardware for this project, and I handle the connections and profit distribution. I want to add another ten percent.”
The sudden price hike left Audrey silent. Cecilia was responsible for managing and structuring the project but didn’t invest a single cent, what she contributed were connections and relationships.
Trying to sideline her would make the project impossible to proceed smoothly. That’s why Paul had warned her in advance–she’d rather not do the project than offend Cecilia. Her network was extensive.
The extra profit Cecilia wanted couldn’t just come from Paul alone; it had to be agreed with Luther’s side as well. Audrey couldn’t agree immediately.
“Ms. Hale…”
The personal phone on Cecilia’s desk rang. She made a “wait a moment” gesture, took out her phone, and answered. After hearing the other side, her sharp, strong eyes gradually darkened. “Got it.”
Cecilia hung up and looked at Audrey. “You all go discuss it and get back to me.” She motioned for them to leave.
Amelia also stood up. “I won’t bother you anymore.” She ignored Cecilia’s hesitant look and followed Audrey out.
“I just looked at two outfits and can’t decide. Help me pick one.” Outside the building, Amelia smiled at Audrey.
Tiffany didn’t know Amelia, but since Cecilia could discuss business openly in front of her without hiding anything, Amelia had to be a powerful figure. Tiffany truly admired Audrey from the bottom of her heart.
She looked like an ordinary woman but acted so low–key and was connected to so many hidden bosses.
“Audrey, something came up at home. Can I go back to handle it?” Tiffany said to Audrey without hostility, her mind working a bit faster.
She was telling Audrey that if she didn’t return to the office, no one would know Audrey and Amelia had gone out alone.
“Okay, we’ll stay in touch anytime.”
Audrey knew Amelia wasn’t really asking for fashion advice. With Her ability, if she liked something, she’d just buy it.
When it was just the two of them, Audrey explained. “Amelia, I’m not actually an hourly worker. Sorry, I lied to you back then.”
Amelia waved it off casually. “Whether you’re an hourly worker or Audrey, you’re you. And you’re the one happy with.”
Audrey got into Amelia’s car, surprised when Amelia actually took her to the mall.
“Yann never had friends and doesn’t know how to care for others. She wouldn’t even know what clothes to buy for you. What kind of junk is in your wardrobe?”
Amelia brought Audrey to the women’s clothing store and generously ordered the manager, “Bring out all the best sellers this season!”
“Amelia, I really don’t need it.”
“Girls have to love themselves first before loving others.” Amelia held Audrey’s hand and walked inside. “When I was young, I liked princess dresses, but Lao Bai said only childish people wore those!
“Now I’m mature and can prove he was wrong, but can I still wear them? People have to live in the moment, respect your age and preferences, and not waste your youthful years!” Amelia picked a few outfits and told Audrey to try them on.

Audrey couldn’t refuse and followed the staff toward the fitting rooms. Another curtain opened, and she locked eyes with Alexa.
