Valerie was shocked by the fierce hatred in Alexa’s eyes and got caught off guard by a strike from the feather duster, “Bitch, who gave you permission to come here!”
Valerie recovered and grabbed the duster with a pitiful and innocent look. “I know you introduced Clayton to a lot of women and he didn’t like any of them. No matter how upset you are, we’re already legally married. That’s a fact that can’t be changed.”
“You can ruin Clayton all you want, but don’t drag my family into it! I warn you, if you touch my daughter again, don’t blame me for being rude!”
Valerie didn’t close the big gate after coming in. She knew Wyatt and Clayton followed behind, so the two brothers walked into the yard without Alexa noticing.
Valerie suddenly gave a provocative smile and let go of the feather duster.
Alexa was completely thrown off. The feather duster landed on Valerie’s arm–not hard, not soft–just a normal drop by gravity.
But Valerie suddenly fell to the ground, pushing a cup off the table. Her scream and the sound of the ceramic breaking caught the attention of the Patel brothers, who rushed in.
Clayton was at the front. He saw Valerie lying in pain on the floor, with his sister–in–law standing over her, feather duster in hand. The power dynamic and who was right or wrong was obvious.
Clayton hurriedly stood in front of Valerie to protect her. “Vally’s father is a benefactor of the Patel family. If you have any issues with her, take them out
on me!”
“Clayton!” Vally threw herself into Clayton’s arms, sobbing. “I don’t know what I did to upset my sister–in–law. She just tried to hit me without saying a
word!”
Alexa was speechless, thinking, ‘That little bitch sure knows how to act! No wonder Audrey couldn’t beat her. If you hadn’t experienced it yourself, you wouldn’t see how cunning gentle Valerie really is.!’
All the anger stuck in Alexa’s chest, with no way to vent it or swallow it down. She looked toward Wyatt who had just come in. “Wyatt, you promised me that once Valerie came in, you’d cut ties with the Patel family!”
Wyatt frowned deeply. He had promised, but his daughter’s situation was most important now. He gave Clayton a look, telling him to take Valerie back to her room first.
Valerie suddenly came closer to Alexa. “Hit me if you want. As long as you calm down, you can beat me to death! Dad is being investigated, and if the Patel brothers cut ties now, what would outsiders think?”
“Shut up! You don’t get to talk in this family!” Alexa wanted to shove the feather duster into Valerie’s mouth. She felt like stabbing her till she was guts- out wouldn’t be enough.
Wyatt closed his eyes and pulled Alexa into his arms. “What she says makes sense.”
Alexa’s eyes widened, and she pushed Wyatt away sharply. “Say that again! You’re bewitched by that little fox too, aren’t you?”
“Please hit me! Don’t misunderstand my brother!”
“Get out!” Alexa lost it and kicked Valerie away.
Valerie sidestepped lightly and leaned on Clayton’s chest, still crying but with a provocative look on her face.
Alexa nearly fell down.
“Are you okay?” Wyatt hurriedly steadied his wife.

Chapter 117
Alexa pushed Wyatt’s hand away, tossed the feather duster on the sofa, and grabbed her bag.
“Since you brothers all side with that bitch, I’m leaving! I’m cutting ties with the Patel family!”
“Don’t be like this. Valerie doesn’t know anything. Why are you angry at her?”
Alexa raised her hand and slapped Wyatt. “She took my child away. My hatred for her is unforgivable! If you defend her, you’re my enemy, too.”

Wyatt covered his face, his expression complicated. He was a total husband slave, but getting slapped in front of his brother and outsiders seriously bruised his pride.
Alexa’s palm tingled, and she kind of regretted hitting him. But thinking of her daughter’s betrayal and her husband defending Valerie, she got so angry her guts cramped as she kept walking out.
“Aren’t you going to care about Riley anymore?” Wyatt stood at the door and asked coldly.
Alexa stopped in her tracks and said stubbornly, “Valerie’s sensible and smart, let her take care of it!” She didn’t look back and walked out.
Valerie pretended to be clueless. “What happened to Riley?”
They’d been on the phone the whole time, but suddenly Riley went silent. Then she heard two men cursing, so she instinctively hung up. She didn’t dare call Riley again and had come over to ask what was going on.
Clayton helped her up. “Where are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. Tell me, what happened to Riley?”
The concern on her face didn’t look fake. Clayton didn’t want to talk about it and turned to look at his older brother.
Wyatt looked irritated, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and started smoking hard. ‘Let her go talk to Riley.”
Audrey had been delayed outside for a while. She asked Tiffany to bring the documents and go meet Cecilia together. They met at the business center, checked the documents again, then went upstairs.
“Ms. Hale has guests. Please wait a moment,” the secretary said, leading them to the reception area.
Inside the office, Cecilia sat opposite Amelia, who was dressed casually.
“When I divorced, you divorced too. When I remarried, you remarried as well. You try to keep up with me in everything, but now you’ve got one thing less than me!” Amelia raised an eyebrow smugly.
“Not necessarily,” Cecilia said, opening a pack of dried fruit.
Amelia leaned forward, grabbed a handful of pistachios, threw the nuts into the air, and caught them in her mouth with pride. “I have a daughter–in–law
now!”
Amelia and Cecilia had been rivals for forty years. In school, they competed over grades; after college, over business ventures; at parties, over jewelry, who married first, who divorced first, they never backed down.
Both had sons, so they started competing over their sons‘ grades, universities, and business skills… Amelia was always way ahead.
Since rumors spread that Yann and Calvin were a couple, Amelia stopped contacting Cecilia and even blocked her to avoid her.
Marriage couldn’t be compared–Amelia was sure to lose. So she decided to switch strategies: compete to see whose son would come out first
For that, she hired a few handsome male models to get close to Cecilia’s son, but he didn’t care.

Yesterday, her son confessed he wasn’t into men, but liked Audrey! Amelia’s competitive spirit flared up again, so she came over to provokes
Cecilia gave a light “oh,” finished the dried fruit, then opened a drawer. She took out a photo, put it on the table, and pushed it forward. “I win this
round.”

“Impossible.” Amelia tossed a nut into her mouth, then spat out an empty shell. “I’ve been watching your son closely He’s had many girlfriends, but none lasted over a month.”
“My son never stings in breakups and never goes back to an ex. He’s way more loyal in this than you!” Cecilia smiled, smirking at the table.
Amelia scoffed and picked up the photo, giving Cecilia a sidelong glance, then moved it away and studied it carefully.
The photo had been taken in secret–a slim woman and a young boy riding a carousel. The boy was bearning, and the woman looked blissfully content.
“What does this mean?” Amelia’s heart skipped a beat. Cecilia’s son wouldn’t also have a divorced woman, would he? If she brought a kid, then she’d lose again.
