Why are you walking away?! We didn’t get any money this trip! How are we going to pay for the baby’s formula?”
“I’m about to give birth and we haven’t even booked the maternity center yet! I’m not doing postpartum confinement at home!”
Chloe waddled after Kevin, complaining the whole way.

“Are you listening to me? We can’t just let this go! Besides, she used to support me financially. Now that I’m pregnant, she should support the baby too!”
“Enough!” Kevin finally snapped, unable to bear the woman’s nagging any longer.
He roared in anger.
Chloe had never seen him so furious. Tears immediately welled up in her eyes:
“Why are you yelling at me?! I didn’t follow you just to suffer!”
In the past, Kevin would have embraced her by now.
But now, looking at that tear–stained face, he only felt inexplicably irritated:
“Haven’t we been humiliated enough today?”
“If you hadn’t insisted on making a scene, how would all those people have found out about my condition? Now I’m getting messages asking if I really have ED. Are you happy now? You’ve completely ruined my reputation!”
After venting his frustration, Chloe didn’t argue back. She bit her lip hard, crying pitifully.
Having gotten it off his chest, Kevin felt less agitated.
For the sake of the child, he took a deep breath and softened his tone:
“I’m just worried about you. You’re pregnant – what if something had happened?”
“I know Sophia. She may be threatening divorce and cursing at us, but those are just words said in anger. She won’t actually leave me. Once I smooth things over with her, I’ll bring you back home, okay?”
There was no other choice at this point.
Chloe could only grit her teeth and agree.
Having placated her, Kevin also breathed a sigh of relief.
He took out his key, preparing to open the door to the mansion.
But no matter how hard he tried, the door wouldn’t budge.
He couldn’t even insert the key.
“What… what’s going on?”
As he stood there dumbfounded, the side door suddenly opened.
Several burly men stepped out, looking him up and down without any courtesy:
“So you’re Kevin Chen!”
Faced with these mountain–like men, Kevin found himself stuttering:
I… I am… Who are you? Why are you in my home?”
“Your home?” The men burst out laughing as if they’d heard a great joke.
One of them shoved Kevin, sending him flying.
Chloe was heartbroken. “How dare you hit him!”
The men finished laughing before continuing:
“What’s wrong with hitting him? The owner of this house hired us as security guards. She specifically told us not to let him or you, the mistress, inside. If you weren’t pregnant, I’d give you a slap too!”
The man waved his palm menacingly.
Chloe shrank back in fear.
“This is ridiculous! This is our marital home! What right do you have to keep me out?!”
“Where’s Sophia?! Tell her to come out and explain herself!”
Kevin couldn’t believe I could be so cold–hearted.
Not even letting him into his own home.
The men exchanged glances, cracking their knuckles ominously:
“You’re getting divorced, so who’s ‘we‘? Besides, Ms. Johnson has already left the country. You want to find her? Take a look at yourselves – are you even worthy?”
Kevin refused to believe it. He gritted his teeth and persisted:
“How much is she paying you? I’ll double it!”
The men’s expressions darkened further:
“Money? Pah! What kind of people do you take us for!”
“Like this vixen here, we were all helped by Ms. Johnson in the past. Of course we want to repay her kindness!”
Helped?
These thuggish brutes who looked like gangsters?
Kevin was devastated.
The men were also getting annoyed. They grabbed him by the collar and tossed him out the mansion gates.
“Get lost!”
Chloe didn’t dare linger either, scrambling away as fast as she could.
The world finally fell silent.
