Chapter Nine
I woke up to see Chrissy by my hospital bedside, her mascara running due to her crying and her face swollen.
The detest and dislike I felt for her couldn’t be repaired by her rescuing me from the evil doctor. Was this what Amara felt ?when we all betrayed, hurt, and abused her.
“Good, you’re awake.” Chrissy said in relief.”
“Get out of here or I’ll scream for security,” I say with calm contempt.
Fresh tears filled her eyes, but I felt nothing for her. She was an evil manipulator.
“Please Kason….”
“I said leave now!” I screamed, she wiped her eyes and stood up. Her expression changed instantly from pretentious regret to cold and bitter.”
“Stop freaking acting like the perfect victim. I’m done begging you, you’re as guilty as I am.Amara has deserted you. I’m all you have left, call me when you come to your senses.“>
She blew me a kiss and walked away. I was shaking in anger, but too weak to do anything.”
More bothersome over the few days I tried to move my right leg, but it wouldn’t move at it; it just hung limp like an attachment on my body.”
The doctor who did this to me was arrested, and the new doctor explained to me that a toxin was injected into my leg; if Chrissy hadn’t come in when she did and the doctor had succeeded in injecting all the fluid, it would have permanently ruined my leg.
Still, the road to recovery would be a long and hard one. Currently, I am disabled and have to use crutches or a wheelchair.
Amara was still MIA. Each day, my heart felt like it was being ripped out of my chest. I no longer cared about my health or my appearance.
My health was deteriorating; not only me but My mother–in–law had several heart attacks over the course of the days.
Only Chrissy seemed to be doing perfectly well; the final court hearing neared, and I felt my fear increased.
Despite hiring the best defense team money could find, the fear of prison still lingered.}
Worse, the company into worse times, and we had to sell over 70 percent of the remaining shares to the anonymous CEO of Green–hollow Technology. They had taken over completely and we’re running things.
Rumors flew around the country that it was owned by a powerful young woman but I felt it was impossible because it was too wealthy for a young woman to own independently.
The day of the final court hearing came; the judge was a strict and upright man; my several attempts to bribe him had failed.
He hit his hammer on the table as he pronounced his judgment; as much as I hated Chrissy, now I still had to stand next to her.
The men who helped me humiliate Amara got a life sentence behind bars. Chrissy, because of her condition, was fined the sum of 10 million dollars and put on probation with years of community service.
The judge looked up at me through his glasses, “And now for you, Mr Kason, the pronouncement of this court upon you is for your crimes for conspiracy and procurements of goons to assault Amara is the fine of 100 million and for unlawfully terminating her pregnancy without her consent you’re put on permanent probation and twenty years of community service.“}]
I felt like I was going to pass out in relief, I was so happy I almost embraced my lawyer.
Suddenly, a handsome man, well–dressed in a suit, burst into the court; he looked red with anger.}
Chrissy immediately looked unsettled by his pretense and tried to hide behind me, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
The man scanned the courtroom till his eyes caught Chrissy. “You! You think I’ll let you raise my child with another man as long as I’m alive. Tell everyone the truth.”
The whole court gasped, and even the judge removed his glasses in shock.
Chrissy was shaking like a magpie, the look on her face told it all. The baby wasn’t mine; the heart fluttered uncontrollably, and all my dreams of being a father shattered.”
“You made me terminate a pregnancy that was mine when you knew I wasn’t the father to your child!” I said in shock.
She shook her head violently but didn’t deny the allegation.
My head spun at an unnatural speed, I killed my baby due to her bad advice. My good leg gave way, and I fell to the ground, emotionally drained and exhausted.
Chatters erupted in the court, I could hear the cameras of reporters go off.”
“What a foolish man. He killed his baby to raise one that isn’t his. He deserves this embarrassment.“}
I heard people say in the court.
I heard the sound of the hammer hit the table, and the judge shouted, “Order in my court. Get this man out of here already, my verdict has been given.”
How was I to recover from this? Two security men lifted me by my hands and carried me out of the court while everyone laughed and snickered.

Amara’s Pov
I watched the footage from the public court hearing of the verdict of Kason and Chrissy over and over again.”
Watching them being embarrassed wasn’t still as satisfying as I wanted it to be.“]
Kason embarrassed himself in court crying like a banshee when he found out Chrissy’s baby wasn’t his. He had killed our baby for nothing.
My phone rang. It was one of my directors, “Hello, ma’am. The transaction to buy out the company was successful. You practically own the company; I told them, however, that they communicate with you through me. So your identity is still protected.“}
“Good, keep it that way, ay, and keep up the good work.“”
“Thank you, you ma’am.” I ended the call with a sense of satisfaction flooding my heart.”
Now I owned the company, Chrissy had tried to steal from me.
Someone knocked on my door and I assumed it was room service, “come in.“}]
My eyes widened in shock.
“Mum? How did you find me.”
